Apparently Betsy is OK. They posted a picture of him at the link. Not pretty. Click it if you dare.
Anyway... You know who else needs shotgunning? The neighbor who did it, and the owner who evidently allowed her dog to use the neighbors yard as a toilet.
Once or twice should be forgiven, but if it's a pattern, I'm with you. I blame the lazy woman who let her dog use the neighbor's yard (and probably trained the dog to do just that) as much as I blame the woman who overreacted. It's sufficient to scoop the mess up and place it on the owner's front porch, mailbox, car roof (or better location with a convertible), or in their swimming pool. You don't take your frustrations out on a dog just because the owner is a bad neighbor.
Disagree.
Animla “plops” are also (1) scent markers for competitors and (2) territory definers.
I’ve “dispatched” animals “mid-pinch” with my 22. I don’t want to have to clean it up and I don’t need that cur’s competitor showing up to “cover over” his marker causing a large mess. Correspondingly, I vehemently disagree with the neighbor’s hound establishing dominance over my dog on my (her) land.
I find nothing wrong with what this Houston resident accomplished.
first, the dog’s owner.
then maybe the neighbor.
dog didn’t deserve it.
When you gotta go you gotta go —
I’ve been there before and thankfully a guy with a shotgon wasn’t.
The old fart should know that by now.
“Good fences make good neighbors.”
If she doesn't, then I can understand the anger, but not the action (overreaction).
Life is a test to prepare us for the next. We are to love our neighbors and forgive trespasses against us.
Shooting the neighbor's dog like that is likely to have some everlasting consequences. Just not worth it. Way too high of a price. Find a better way.
I like to return such presents left behind; smeared all over the owner’s door. Dries nice and hard.
You don’t need to shoot the dog. A garden hose works fine.
Bet next time she has a dog she’ll curb it, and clean up after it.
Never piss off somebody who is ready to meet the great beyond. Shoulda kept the dog off the damn lawn IMO.
With all due sensitivity toward sensitive animal lovers, I’m just asking a hypothetical question (not saying I resort to it): what do you guys think of using a BB gun aimed at the offending dog’s hindward parts? Does that cross the sensitivity line too? I really want to know.
Better to grab a plastic bag or shovel, retrieve the dog crap, and follow the dog walker home with it. Then toss it on their yard.
Why is the neighbor doing a cop’s job? I’m sure the cop’s union is going to have words with him.
I rescue dogs and foster care them. I have 3 beside me as I type. Owning dogs is a responsibility. Not controlling them in a responsible manner can get the dog killed. They need to be taught to stay on their own property, to obey and to not run out in the street. Easily done but takes responsibility a lot of owner refuse to do.
the owner who evidently allowed her dog to use the neighbors yard as a toilet should be shot....
He’s going to get himself arrested for impersonating a cop!
I find an airsoft gun is a good training tool. No harm done and the critter gets the idea quickly.
As for the neighbor, well, that’s why I don’t have neighbors. I cringe when I think about moving back to town.
"Listen up old man. That piece of scum barking rat of yours has just taken his last dump on my lawn. I find one more, just one, I'm going to take him and staple his @ss shut!"
The Burbs - Lt. Rumsfield Gets Mad at Queenie for Pooping in...
Yep,can't blame the dog. Had a similar situation ourselves. Darn neighbor would sit on the front porch, smoke a cigarette and watch their dog crap in our yard. Never blamed the dog - but soon as we would notice, DH would get a shovel and sling it back in their yard (okay, sometimes it hit their car because their driveway is in between, he didn't care, just general slinging in their direction). Guy finally moved but it was aggravating. Doesn't EVERYONE know it's rude to allow your dog to crap in someone else's yard? And doesn't EVERYONE know it's not the dog's fault?
