These are actually excellent movies. There's another Wellman movie that precedes The High and the Mighty. It, too, stars John Wayne and Lloyd Nolan. I'm blanking on it at the moment.

“Wings” (1928), which won Best Picture, should be on that list. I would also ad “Flying Down to Rio” (1933).

"Hells Angels" (1930) Produced and directed by Howard Hughes. It started production as a silent film and ended up being one of the first "talkies" - contains some excellent air to air combat footage. Not a great film, but can be viewed here: https://archive.org/details/HellsAngels1930JeanHarlow
My grandmother would not let my Dad go see it in the theater because of the profanity in the title.
