I look forward to comments from FReepers knowledgeable in science. I will say from a Biblical standpoint that if this is true, it won't change anything. The Catholic Church has doctrine on the purpose of sex and marriage that won't change.

He said: ‘Clearly parents should not be allowed to torture or kill babies. But they can currently choose to terminate a pregnancy early on, so they should be allowed to have as much information on the future child as possible.’

Wouldn't it be quite ironic that two liberal pillars contradict each other so. The irony is also that the intolerant conservatives who are pro-life and opposed to gay marriage would keep their child regardless because they are pro-life. I would.

Despite this, he would not would not object to a prenatal test being developed.

It seems his mind is definitely made up on this matter.

we already have proof it isn’t genetic (ie hard-coded).

Identical twin studies have shown when one is gay, the other is only gay about 50% of the time.

If it was hardcoded and immutable, unchangeable, the second twin would have to be gay 100% of the time.

The fact it isn’t shows there is no hardcoding that people simply cannot help but be gay.

Our findings suggest there may be genes at play

Note the verbiage.

It’s inevitable that there will be a Nobel prize for someone can make a convincing case that he/she has found the “gay gene.”

The confirmation of the existence of a ‘gay gene’ or genes will strengthen arguments that homosexuality is a matter of biology, rather than choice.

While a homosexual attractions might be a matter of biology, homosexual actions are always a matter of choice.

I doubt this study. The size of the tests conducted by New Zealand’s top geneticists, collating studies from Sweden to Australia to the USA, spoke for themselves. Conducted on identical twins, less than 10% of cases found both twins to be homosexuals.

There is a double edged sword here for the homosexuals. That being that if they do locate some kind of switch that makes someone homosexual, it really isn’t long before they are able to turn it off, and an even shorter span of time (as alluded to in the article) before there can be prenatal tests and subsequent abortions, inevitable in western society.

And should they discover a gene therapy that cures homosexuality, what will our government do? Ban it?

There are far-reaching implications, but as I say, I think this study will come up bunk.

Uh huh.

Homosexuality is just as in-born as any other psychological disorder.

****‘Although this could one day lead to a pre-natal test for male sexual orientation, ****

And this will really cause the lib parents to have a conflict. Abort or not. Wonder how the LGBT community will feel when they see their own “kind” being flushed down the toilet.

I can almost see the posts on lib web sites now...”I’m in favor of unlimited abortion, but in this case....”

they used a study group of two gay brothers at a gay free for all......are there other brothers who are not gay?....does this mean ALL gay men will have gay brothers?....

I find lots of questions about this so called study.....

yes, I'm sure nature has its place...nuture has its place too...

learned behavior has its place as well....

personally, I find it hard how a human being born to procreate would have such an abnormality that it would not want to procreate....if this was the animal world, that abnormality would be selected out....

will strengthen arguments that homosexuality is a matter of biology, rather than choice.

So, homosexuality is a genetic defect (a defect in the genes which drive us to mate with the appropriate mates in order to keep the species alive and well).

It's a defect which can be overcome with proper parenting and education.

They have found that with psychopathy, it happens if three conditions exist. The first condition is that you need the brain of a potential psychopath. Then you need the violent experiences that can turn people into more violent versions of themselves. Then you need his inherent nature of not being able to empathize with people. A person who meets these three conditions has a very good chance of becoming a psychopath.

http://www.bubblewrappedchildren.co.uk/blog/q-how-do-you-create-a-violent-psychopath-a-leave-them-with-frozen-terror-created-in-infancy.html

It’s probably similar with homosexuals, because not everybody who was molested by a homosexual will go on to become one themselves.

Dr Michael Bailey from Northwestern University in Illinois, who contributed to the latest study, said it is the biggest of its kind. He added: ‘Sexual orientation has nothing to do with choice

This is a political statement, not a scientific conclusion, that goes way beyond the data. An honest scientist would have said, "There is some evidence, that in some cases, homosexuality may have a heritable component."

>> Being homosexual could be in the DNA.

The same could be said for being homicidal.

From a religious perspective you can ask for three things on gay...ask for forgiveness...ask for healing....or....ask for blessing. .

So the question is what to ask for..

The world is saying Gay should..ask for blessing... like any other couple....

The world also is saying if you say forgiveness or healing your a bigot guilty of a hate crime..so a genetic or choice is irrelevant to the world. .the world is demanding it be blessed

“Although this could one day lead to a pre-natal test for male sexual orientation, it would not be very accurate, as there are other factors that can influence the outcome.’”

So it is caused by genes but it isn’t really because there are other factors at play, but these factors, by fiat, can’t be anything remotely similar to choices made.

It’s blather.

As far as the actual genetic findings, the article is not published yet.

the study appears to be very flawed, only, amazingly not as flawed as what the report says the study means

a genetic study of only admitted “gay” men, cannot prove a genetic cause for being “gay” only because it found certain DNA sequences to have a high degree of commonality among the men in the study

UNLESS it were to also conduct a study in the general population of heterosexual men and NOT find those genetic sequences to be very common among them

otherwise, finding the “common” DNA sequences looking
only at the “gay” men in their study may in fact be a coupled of quite common DNA sequences among MEN, period
