Amazing time lapse makes night time look like daylight.
That was awesome!
Thanks....:)
I enjoyed that very much. I especially liked watching the storms and sea turtles.
Those boats(cruise ships?) looked like they were being jet propelled! :-) Great photography.
It was cheap living way back then!....Great memories!!
I grew up in Jupiter. Graduated from Jupiter HS. Sure isn’t the sleepy little beach town it used to be. We used to go conching in that part of the intracoastal shown in the video off Jupiter Island. And I spent much much time at Blowing Rocks when I was a kid. Thanks for the link. :)
Heh...not so cheap now M. Still a beautiful place though.
I’ve been there, but not lately. It was a beautiful undiscovered place at one time. The water in the inlet is so clear you go snorkeling or walk along the jetty and watch the parrot fish.
While not a native, I’ve been here for 30 years now Roos...tough place to leave. Living in the Bluffs, I tend towards the Juno end of town and beaches. None better, IMO.
FJP are you the photographer? I’m in Melbourne Beach, just a bit north of Jupiter. Though not visible in this video, snake lightning over the ocean would be cool to see on a time lapse video. The sea turtle egg laying segment is good in this video making the night almost like daylight but it does not show a turtle digging her nest and laying eggs. Watching a turtle from ocean to beach and back is a often a multi hour event. Flashlights and flash photography are strictly verboten.
No. I can’t take a decent picture of my cat, yet alone stuff like this. Just a Jupiter/Juno resident that thinks it’s cool. The photographer explains how he did it at the youtube link. He also links his website.
Probably in that marina next to the bridge & Harpoon Louie’s? Of course Harpoon Louie’s is long gone, but isn’t the marina closed now also?
There is massive retail construction going on at the Brio property - the old Banana Max property by the Indiantown Rd. drawbridge. Lots of shops, bars, restaurants, condos, etc.
You wouldn't recognize that part of town.
And yes, the Marina by the Tequesta bridge is bulldozed. Still will have slips and some storage, but also restaurant, bar, etc.
I’ve been to the Square Grouper, Jetty’s and actually had my wedding reception in a small private room at the Crab House. My mom still lives in Tequesta and we get down there every so often for a visit.
I think the Brio property you’re talking about was the old Sanddollar Restaurant. On the northwest corner of Indiantown & US1? Lots going on in that area. But, when I was a kid Indiantown Road was only 2 lane. :) and the Big Dollar Plaza actually had a Big Dollar grocery store in it!
Here’s a timelapse vid of sea turtles nesting on Melbourne Beach also done by moonlight that shows one laying her eggs ...

When I first moved down here 34 years ago, on my first late night beach walk I stumbled over a giant sea turtle laying her eggs. It was so dark that I didn’t see her until I was on top of her. I was wondering what was making all those odd looking tracks in the sand. She absolutely scared the snot out of me when she turned that big beaked head toward me, I scrambled away from her in panic. That would have made a good YouTube vid.
Thanks FlJoePa, extra to APoD.
