I originally started with Mike Lee as my guy, but I switched to Cruz.
And we can thank the animals in the press for that.
I’ve watched all the latest crop of “Conservatives” and - while some of them have good points and a reasonable chance at winning - there’s still only one that I’d trust to take my granddaughter to the bathroom.

Unofficially, It’s between Cruz and Palin.
There's multiple bad things™ about Roe v. Wade. I think the biggest is the states rights thing, or rather the implicit assertion that the USSC can make anything into a federal matter and then wrest control from the States, consider that to do Roe v. Wade they invented a right to privacy... yet that same right to privacy is non-existent in public life [see NSA and IRS] and even in medical life [see ACA] therefore only existing as applied to abortion.
Moreover, because it's been recognized as not a state issue
there is something that cannot be applied, or is forced to be overlooked: section 1 of the 14th Amendment. — If abortion could be pushed back down to State-level, then it is entirely possible that 14th Amendment could be used to seal the fate as recognizing abortion as murder.
As it is though, there is far too much power gained from Roe v. Wade: the power to instantly overturn all state-laws of a particular type, the ability to alter law [ACA] is an extension of this. I'm almost convinced that they would sooner give up Wickard than Roe, as even the vast swaths controlled via "commerce clause" could be tied down with the power to nullify/create/rewrite law. (IOW, Roe is their goose that lays the golden egg.)
However, repealing Roe v. Wade wouldn’t make abortion illegal, either. The issue would be kicked back down to States.
I think it would be vastly easier to handle in the States: just look at Texas.

Still too many ifs to make a real choice right now. For instance:
IF we get enough Conservative senators in 2014 to take a slim majority, considering that we would probably still have snowe and collins, do you really want to sacrifice losing Cruz, Paul, or Lee if any run for the presidency?
IF Sarab Palin intended to run, would she NOT rather than challenge a Cruz, Lee, or Paul?
IF Allen West ran, we wouldn’t lose anyone in the senate, and we mostly ALL love him. If Sarah Palin ran, Sarah/West. Dream ticket. It would force the racist blacks to search their soul or admit that if obama had been a republican, they would never have voted for him. No one could call us misogynists OR racists. Their silly war on women meme would stay right in THEIR corner where it always belonged. The dems would have to show their race card is only a cheater’s card trick.
IF neither ran, Trey Gowdy wouldn’t really diminish our majority in the House, so Gowdy is a chouce either way.

That is interesting, and it makes a lot of sense. So, what you are saying is that Cruz was born in Canada, but he was NEVER a Canadian citizen, but always an American citizen, correct?
I have actually never thought about this.
I happen to believe that Obama was born in Hawaii, and that seems to be the “official” take on things, so aside from the idea that maybe he wasn’t actually born there, it’s irrelevant for this discussion. (I think Obama should have been dq’d for pres. due to the fact that he’s a communist, but clearly that view was in minority, in the country and the MSM, not here, of course!)
My recollection about McCain was that he was born in Panama, but that was due to the fact that his father was in military service there. My understanding is that while being in military service in a foreign land you are “in the US”. Nevertheless I recall congress passing some pro-forma bill declaring McCain “eligible” to be president.
Now would they have to do that for Cruz?

I doubt Mike Lee will run. Awesome guy, but seems comfortable in the senate. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Mike Lee as a cabinet secretary however.
Its a murky situation, because of the definition of ‘natural born citizen’ as it pertains to parent’s citizenship etc., so its kind of up in the air, but the likely situation would be that the senate would vote on it and give him their blessing.
Scott Walker would receive a lot of criticism on his record as governor, job growth in Wisconsin (though it has little to do with him)
Rand Paul will inherit baggage, but I guarantee he will get the largest portion of young voters that the GOP has gotten in decades.
Cruz would be given the senate’s thumbs up, just like McLame.
Rand is pro-life, and voted against the Amnesty Bill.
Cruz is the only one out there who hasn’t disappointed yet
