Who among us used to be one of those long-haired flea-infested dope-smoking denizens of the rock concert world?
Guilty. And recovered.
Post up some old tunes for a Saturday night.

Old dead (no pun intended) Jerry and his band.
“Old Hippie”, Bellamy Bros. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhPVZbINR0w
I am right there with you brother. The “Dead” were some group. Recovery makes it all more appreciable. I am heading out to “Bethel Woods Center”, site of the original 1969 Woodstock festival, for an Irish folk concert momentarily. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to ya.
Can it get worse than this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVpoiChuyWI
That’s AWESOME!!!
Anything by Townes Van Zante. Youtube has them all. I can’t figure out how to post the links.
Yeah, if I hadn’t cleaned up, I might not be here to annoy the mods.
I got a few dead pals who went just a few steps too many down that Highway to Hell.
Happy St. Patty’s back at ya.
Nope, that is about the pinnacle of suckiness for me.
After “Puff, the Magic Dragon” they were done ;)
Wow, it sure is dusty in here.
THAT may be the post of the night, right there.
Saw many that were loved go down that highway. Many were just doing their duty in Vietnam and could not handle what they saw once they came home. Miss them all. They were the best of our best, and could not adjust.
This goes out to everyone stuck in the cold!
“they said she’d never go down...”
We used to love that line, for some reason...

The Music Machine - Talk Talk
Absolutely the best drum riff in all of Rock and Roll history...
The road to recovery is littered with shattered souls, some living , some dead.
One of my all time favorites ... not a bad cut on it. Arthur Lee was great.
"Don't want to think about a cold goodbye when a High School buddy got a little too high.
I can't help him out this morning."
-Burton Commings Sour Suite
The Scorsese documentary of The Band, The Last Waltz, raised the bar for concert documentaries through the roof. Unlike most, it is a good movie even if you never heard of The Band before.
The White Buffalo - The House of The Rising Sun (Sons of Anarchy Version)
Both are brilliant. Heck the Animals could probably read music.
Yeah, I'm the Brasilian music guy. Doesn't mean I don't love the genius of the classics, I just can't find comparable today.
Cheers!

I’ll see your Atlantis and raise you a Mountain, lol.

Always loved Atlantis, btw. Thanks for posting it.

I was an oddball hippie, always very Conservative. Learned to play (sort of) lap steel one day, and played this tune at the first Milwaukee “Be In.” We were the big hit of the show!

Probably more appropriate now:

Slipknot is pretty bad. The 2000s was a dark period for music. Terrible radio bands designed for 10 year olds like Creed, Nickelback and Linkin Park, old geezers like RHCP and U2 running on fumes, etc. Luckily it’s a new decade now and all the stale remnants from the 90s are finally fading away.
I cant figure out how to post the links.

Not sure what your needs are but a few minutes on this practice thread may help.

I always liked this one by the group

Outsiders - Respectable - [original AM radio version]
Never hear that song in the same way again after watching “Goodfellas.”
By far and away my favorite Dead tune is “Box Of Rain,” but there’s not a single decent YouTube, the studio recording is better.
So, here’s Cream instead. “Badge.”
