And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. Bring all our troops home from the middle east and let the ragheads fight it out amongst themselves. Enough is enough.

i agree with sending troops to protect schools.
I do not give a **** about Turkey or anywhere else.
Yes, situation is worsening 32%
No, should stay out of it 68%
You always ping me twice but I am not complaining. :)

The Middle East is cesspool of long term frictions and quick sand that we need to stay out of, and I include Israel too. Let them all have their little crappy piece of the world, but we need to stay out their business totally. All it gets us is dead servicemen, more debt, more 9-11 and more endless WOT.
It could become an emergency if we RAN OUT OF POPCORN.
I hope they stretch out well, crack their knuckles and kill each other off like flies.
I hope it goes on for months. For years.
Muzzie on muzzie —music to my ears.
It took a long time for the post to go thru. I swear I did not hit the button twice. Must be gremlins! haha.
This is not a sudden event. USA has been preparing Patriot sites there for some time, including radar sites. It seems sudden to us but it’s the end of a long thread of preparation.
Looks like Turkey’s gov’t is becoming islamist. Not our friend or neutral partner anymore.
When Syria falls to the Jihadists Turkey will be next. Hmm Libya, Egypt, Syria, Turkey- that’s a big arc of jihadi Al Quaeda countries.
Turkey is NATO, a conflict there will draw in lots of other players.

The Patriot System is effective against theater type missiles (SCUDS, etc.). The more numerous tactical missiles, like those which are being fired against Israel, are not the target class the Patriot is designed to counter.
I would be ROFLMA if Turkey had to ask Israel for its IRON DOME system to defend itself against Syrian missiles armed with chemical warheads.
It can be viewed as a treaty obligation.
Turkey has taken many bad turns in recent years, but they are still a member of NATO and we’ve had troops in Turkey for decades at Incirlik Air Base and some in other areas.
So, having US troops in Turkehy is nothing unusual, though they might have a different mission in this case.

What country is to the West of Turkey? A strong country? Oh, Greece, you say - can Greece withstand an invasion from Turkey? The next one West is Italy - again, not a problem you say? Austria, Germany, etc. The ragheads are still very miffed that they were kicked out of Europe ca. 1400; they have indicated they want it back. With Obama in charge of the U.S. defense, I think I’d bet on on the ragheads.
And to the East is Georgia and Armenia and Azerbaijan. Not all that stable.
