My 89 year old Mother in law (a conservative) is spending Thanksgiving with me and my family. My wife has requested that her looney left wing grandchildren be allowed to visit with "Granny" on Saturday. They voted Obama and are in their 20's and are actually very nice people. However, I've made it clear that I can not tolerate Obama voters in my house. Nice or not, family or otherwise. I'm still on the fence because I do love my Mother in law. What do you think? Also, are there others with similar problems?

Let the loons visit. Do yard work while they are in your house.
If granny gets to see the kids on a regular basis, then no way are they setting foot in my house. If she doesn’t get to see them often, then I’d let them in if only to please her. Has anyone asked her if she wants to see them? Hey, nothing wrong with hanging a nice portrait of Reagan over your fireplace while the grandkids are visiting.
I’ve severed ties with the one friend who voted for 0. I thought they had learned their lesson over the past four years but let it slip out. Last time I had a stupid “we don’t need anymore old white men for president” dingbat in my house, I printed out several anti-0 billboards and taped them around the house. He got the point and sat with his nose in his cell the entire time never saying a word and hasn’t been back since.
So far it is still your house.
Long term consequences, yes.
Having them as house guests... Not for me.
BTW, I printed several copies for my conservative friends to keep on hand. As they retreat to the bathroom, they can use it as a cheat sheet. LOL
Family is what you make it. There are plenty of orphans throughout history adopted into ‘families’ that became their own with NO blood involved.
My biologicaL ‘family’ is divided on every possible level. Some of the absolute worst memories of my childhood were of my ‘family’ sitting around tables glaring at each othe every holiday.
Sorry but that’s no ‘family’ any thinking person wants to be a part of.
To me, a real family is the people you want to be around, not have to force yourself to accomodate.
And the Obama thing? I am NOT sorry to say this. People who make any allowance for those who intentionally vote to destroy this country and in fact the very ‘families’ in it through communistic policy are every bit as responsible for the propigation of this mess as the Obamites themselves.
Because if you were not making it easy for them, they might not be doing it.
I can’t answer that one for you. i suppose that like a lot of other things, you will know when that time comes.
Have them over, enjoy your family and your Mother, and just say ‘we will not discuss politics today, period.’ Be gracious and hospitable. If it comes up, tell them you are praying for them in their ignorance, haha.
Family is family even the crazy ones.

You are the one who has the problem here. So I repeat my question to YOU: where would YOU draw the line to “keep the family peace?”
