I'd be willing to bet there are people in Germany saying, "ya know? I liked it better when we didn't know we even had those bombs..."

There’s probably a couple dozen more they haven’t found.

If that’s a 10 foot long bomb, that guy kneeling next to it must be about 20 feet tall!

Are the bomb suits for atmosphere for the photo shoot or do they really think that they will be saved by them if that bomb goes off?

LOL! I doubt seriously that the picture is depicting the actual event ... notice the guy to the left with the paper bag getting ready to make a new friend. ;-)

“There’s probably a couple dozen more they haven’t found.”

Absolutely. Read “Aftermath: The Remnants of War” It's about the munitions that are still unrecovered around the world. Fascinating read and the author is refreshingly free of an agenda.

People are still finding Reed, Archer, and James shells from the Civil War that still can explode.

I know what’s going on there. He is offering the bomb diffuser guy some of his peanut butter sandwich before they get to the hard part of the job and all, in case he needs some energy or something, knowing he maybe didn’t eat lunch yet - that is sweet.

Could have been worse, the RAF used the 12,000 pound Tall Boy and it’s big brother, Grand Slam at 22,000 pounds in WW2

Do you suppose the river cushioned the fall of the bomb, preventing it exploding?

Looks like the guy on the left is about to make his co-work crap in his pants...is that a blown up sandwich bag he’s about to pop?

It was likely a dud, detonator didn’t work.

The dud rate for bombs then was high. Solution was to drop lots of bombs.
