Shockingly, I am Leaning Toward Newt
none | 11/5/11 | originalbuckeye

Having watched several of the debates, I am becoming convinced that Newt might be the only one that can beat Obama. He will destroy Obama in the Presidential debates. Can he overcome the destruction that Big Media rained down on him in the 90's?

Why is everyone so convinced Newt would “destroy” Obama in the debates? He has a truckload of crap in his past that Obama would enjoy dredging up for people who may have forgotten. And Best has a tendency to go on too long and sound somewhat arrogant and professorial. He did that at the Faith and in Iowa and it was rather annoying. I do agree he is brilliant, but it is his hubris that has always done him in. Also his stance on amnesty is unacceptable to me.

Back when he was speaker, he would quote Will Durant. Any one such quote trumps a photo with Nancy. Those who object to the photo are sanctimonious idiots

I prefer Cain but Newt is now second. I think Perry would kick butt all over Washington but alas, he is fading fast

...Cain can win a moderate portion of the Black Left bloc and maybe even some of the racist White Left.

Sadly, not gonna happen.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve never considered Mr. 9-9-9 a viable option anyway.

Some say he is a bright guy but I question his so-called smarts. How smart is it to leave two ex-wives out there with all of the bad press he will get while traveling around with his 3rd wife-to-be on the taxpayers’ dime when he was speaker? Also, he resigned from the house right after he was re-elected because he created the mess with the shut down and blew the impeachment of Clinton. Smart? Not in my book, in fact, just the opposite! Not that it matters to me, but some one needs to explain why he had a half million dollar credit at Tiffanys. I mean, doesn't everyone?

How many dying wife stories are you willing to hear?

Are you unaware that this story was totally debunked by his own daughter, who was there? Or are you intent on keeping lies alive in order to do harm?

How about how he and his staffers impugned those of us on the NY 23rd special election fiasco in 2009 over his insistence we get behind Scuzzyfava (sp) even though she was more liberal than the Democrat. This was the seat left open by the other liberal Republican who is now the education secretary.

I had several e-mail and voice conversations with his then communications director who has since gone on to work for Perry.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Newt on substance but his establishment politics side gets in the way everytime it comes down to crunch time to limit government and its reach into our lives.

The one thing that Cain brings to the table was personified by none other than Juan Williams discussing Cain last night. My wife sat here in stunned amazement.

The one thing we need is an honest broker to seize the bully pulpit on the issue of race relations in this country. He may not be able to change a lot initially, but leading by example is the best teacher and Cain will do that. Calling out charlatans like Jesse and Al and being able to show the sorry game that race baiters are playing with their lives will go a long way to help bring an air of true civil discourse back to the public arena.

Newt will mop the stage with Obama in any debate.
Obama will look silly trying to avoid debates.

Newt was accused of misusing his educational program for political purposes.
The IRS later ruled that Newt’s use of his education program was textbook perfect.

Do I wish he hadn’t remarried 3 times? Yes....
Is that more important than the shortcomings of the other candidates?
NO!!

Newt would make a great VP, however

I've seen this a lot. Too bad it makes NO sense at all.

My problem with Newt is that he doesn’t want to send ALL of the illegals home. He wants to let some stay, if they have been here a long time and have close ties to their community. Supposedly they would get work permits but not citizenship...well, maybe under Newt they won’t become citizens, but the Supreme Court may have something to say about that.

I still have a problem with that. First, it’s not too ‘heartless’ for me, but second it still provides an incentive for Illegals to come and try to stay. He needs to make everyone of them leave...that is the only way to prevent future floods of them.

Newt has never been a Democrat politician ~ and he's not particularly Leftwingtard on anything.

On the other hand he will say anything to get on camera ~ and that makes him a "political whore".

“The ‘divorcing the wife on her death bed’ wife is still alive.”

His daughter has put that one to rest...and I’m sure she will be reiterating what she’s said should it be necessary.

Newt's problem is that he doesn't really mean what he says, and also that he has a nasty tendency to fold like a cheap suitcase at critical moments. He will never be able to run away from his personal life, nor will he ever be able to live down that picture with Pelosi on the sofa.

And then there was THIS:

Flashback: Newt Took $300,000 From Freddie Mac to Stop Congress From Making Much Needed Reform

Beware of Newt. He ain't all he claims to be.

When was that photo with pelosi taken anyway? How many years ago? The science on "global warming" skepticism has advanced by leaps and bounds since the last five or ten years. As for Perry, he can't even kick Rick Santorum's butt in a debate--how would he do against the Usurper?

My memory fails me. Could you list his waffles?

How about the hypocrisy of having an affair with a staffer while prosecuting BJ Clinton for impeachment? ("But Yo-Yo, Clintoon was being impeached for lying, not for having an affair!" Too nuanced of a difference for the majority of the voters.)

No, Newt is a very intelligent strategist, but once he quit his speakership he forfeited his eligibility for any further office in my eyes, and his personal past is so riddled with problems that Newt would be a hit-piece journalist's wet dream.

This is 6 months old, but it’s the same as what he said when radio-interviewed in Houston this week. He seems to have a ‘soft spot’.

Newt is an establishment republican..much like Perry and Romney. Though a ton smarter than Perry and more conservative then Romney. Problem with Newt is he will cave to the opposition quickly and is really not what our country needs right now. To save us we need a radical change towards unwavering conservatism. Not another politician that is ready to go along to get along.
