Threads That Make It Worthwhile
Darkwolf377 ^ | 7/4/10 | Darkwolf377

Posted on 07/04/2010 12:13:03 AM PDT by Darkwolf377

I've been wanting to post this for awhile--a thread that praises the regular threads that keep me coming back to FR. I invite folks to respond by adding their comments on FR regular threads (no more than three) that they think deserve the spotlight. Please, don't publicize your own thread, and if I or someone else has already posted a thread, don't just repeat it.

To go along with the 'ASTRONOMY PICTURE OF THE DAY',
the 'String Theory Ping List'
and the 'String Theory' blog
of 'SunkenCiv' is anther 'must'.

IMHO FReepers are the smartest group of people on the planet :-)

>>>>> "Withuot these three threads, I might have given up and walked off in a huff more than once. But when i check these out, I cool off, get my bearings, and realize that there are things that really do unite us--and not just political ideas. The three threads that keep me coming back are....." <<<<<

I can't tell you specific threads, but I will share that I frequently read only POSTINGS by specific freepers, and not necessarily the entire thread to which they posted.

I've learned LOTS about American History, science, genetics, genealogy, etc. by following posts by muawiyah:

http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:muawiyah/index?tab=comments

I get lots of laughs by staying current with JoeProBono:

http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:joeprobono/index?tab=comments

It's often instructive to keep an eye out for threads where the owner/founder is active, and these are found by finding where he's actively posting:

http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:jimrobinson/index?tab=comments

And here is where YOUR posting here is located:

http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:Darkwolf377/index?tab=comments

I read LOTS of different freepers POSTS-only, without even opening up the threads, so the above are just a very few examples.

The above search also contains ANY thread where ANY freeper happened to use the phrase, "Best Places To Live" - but there are plenty of messagethreads about them too, in the above search.

One could also do a google search using, "the best place to live" site:freerepublic.com OR . . . . "the best state" or "the best city" etc/etc.

The GodsGravesGlyphs threads are always interesting/provocative/educational and are often very amusing. I always check them out.

As Robert Louis Stevenson once wrote, “The world is so full of a number of things, I’m sure we should all be as happy as kings.”

Thanks Condor51. I too love the APOD, and must admit, I’m a little envious that it’s actually an FR Topic choice when posting a new topic. :’)

OT, the warehouse club I swung through tonight had at least two make/model of LED TVs back on display.

LOL! That one is so great... it *may* be the greatest sendup of all time, definitely is the greatest on FR. AFAIK. Hard to say, of the 2 million threads, I’ve only seen like 175,000 of ‘em, and have only pinged like maybe 99,000.

I’ve found that looking for what I have in common with a brother/sister FReeper is much more important that the differences is what is important.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been on fr..SO MUCH has been going on. So this is an enjoyable read after not posting for so long. I LOVE apod and dufunnies too. I have to mention, I love the viking kitty pings..not sure they can be catagorized as a qualified thread, I hereby label the the infamous zotted threads, and of course, all threads that are related to the creation of Jim Thompson. :) Oh and the tea party threads that followed JimRob across the us. :):) I guess I have more than 3 that I consider equal in humor and excitement.

Yeah the “Viking Kitties” descending on foolish zotties really brings out the funny in some folks.
