Too bad there aren’t a few showing some expert work with the night-stick though...

I saw some professional nightstick work when my dad and I watched the Communists hold a May Day parade in NYC back in '48. At the end of the parade, the stevedores came in, busting "red" heads and raising Hell. Then the police moved in. The foot police came first. My old man said, "You can tell the rookies from the old pros." I asked him how he knew. He said, "The rookies are beating those guys over the head, the pros hit them in the gut" (horizontal piston motion).

Pop was right. The rookies didn't make any headway - just bloodied heads. The old pros cut the crowds into small groups, and then the mounted cops came in and used the horses rear end to shove the rioters where they wanted them to go.

Looking back on it, it was a masterful example of no-nonsense crowd control.

A report in another thread had the number at 200, with half (100) going to that detention center they set up. Even so, that’s a very small number. I wonder how many were suffering a meth attack and couldn’t make the protest?

The same thing happens every election day. The people who believe the most in Free Stuff are too lazy to drag their sorry butts down to the polls and vote for it. (This is called being true to the Purity of the Ideal.)
