Jon Benet Ramsey in Daisy Dukes
Townhall.com ^ | 8/4/06 | Mike S. Adams

Posted on 08/05/2006 9:37:49 AM PDT by wagglebee

In the nearly ten years since Jon Benet Ramsey’s death, I’ve spent little time pondering the identity of that little girl’s murderer. I’ve known the answer to that question for years. And so have you. But one time several years ago - during the height of the media coverage of the case - I did hear one interesting assertion about the parents of Jon Benet Ramsey; namely, that there was absolutely no evidence they had ever sexually abused their little girl.

When I heard the assertion that there was “absolutely no evidence” of sexual abuse of Jon Benet Ramsey, I immediately recalled a picture of the little girl when she was around the age of four. She was wearing a brightly colored strapless dress that matched her brightly colored lipstick. Her makeup was as heavy as that of any hooker or drag queen in San Francisco.

This begs a fundamental question: Are we sexually abusing our little girls when we dress them up to look like prostitutes? Of course, I would submit that we are.

Fortunately, when the Ramsey case broke it was very unusual to see a couple dressing a small child like a hooker. Unfortunately, today it is commonplace. An episode I witnessed the other day illustrates just how little parents seem to think before allowing their little girls to dress and carry themselves in an entirely-too-adult fashion.

On my daily jog though my neighborhood I ran by the house of a man I know fairly well. His garage door was open and music was blaring out of a jam box inside - in fact, the music was so loud it was barely recognizable. But I could tell the song was “These boots are made for walking,” which was popularized by Nancy Sinatra in the 1960s. His two grandchildren were dancing in the driveway to the recent remake of the tune, sung by Jessica Simpson.

As my neighbor’s two grandchildren were standing in the driveway - while gyrating their hips like a couple of prostitutes - I noticed they were both wearing cutoff “Daisy Duke” style short and halter tops. The oldest girl looked like she was wearing mascara. She is 11 years old, by the way. Her younger sister is nine.

There is obviously something very wrong psychologically with the parent who actually dresses a four year old girl like a prostitute. There is also something wrong with the parent who allows a nine or even an eleven year old girl to dress herself like one – not to mention carry herself like one, too. It is not cute. It is simply crude and indecent.

But there is more to the equation than bad taste, here. In today’s world, people who do not make sure their little girls are dressed like little girls are exposing them to extreme danger.

Shortly after I finished my afternoon jog, I went to one of the numerous websites (http://www.mapsexoffenders.com/) that can be used to locate registered sex offenders. I wanted to know how far those two little girls – the ones dancing like hookers - were from the nearest convicted pedophile. The answer: about 500 yards.

Parents of small children (especially little girls) need to do the following things after finishing this short but important column:

Log on to the internet and find the nearest registered sex offenders in your neighborhood.

Make sure you voice your complaints to local retailers who sell sexually provocative clothes marketed for little girls.

Make a note of the names of the companies that manufacture inappropriate clothing for children next time you see these products. Write them and tell them exactly why you will never, ever buy their products.

Tune in occasionally to The O’Reilly Factor to keep track of Bill’s segments on Jessica’s law – a measure designed to impose mandatory 25-year sentences on first-time child molesters.

Make sure that your lawmakers know you will not support them unless they support Jessica’s Law. In other words, impose a simple ideological litmus test on all of your representatives.

I hope all of my readers will give serious consideration to the advice I have proffered today. Even if you reject some of my specific points, keep my general thesis in mind. Our little girls will be women far sooner than we would like. For the time being we should just let them be little girls.

MAWG, you seem to say there is no coming back from being a sexual predator.

AlexandriaDuke, you say the recidivism for sex offenders is lower than for other things.

What definitions are each of you using? Are you both counting the 18 year old who gets convicted of statutory rape of his 15 year old girlfriend as a sex offender/sexual predator? Are you both restricting your definitions to those adults who prey on children under 13? Could you please clarify what you mean by "sexual predator" and "sex offender".

In my area, people who proposition a prostitute are flagged as sex offenders. I would say that a john could quickly change his ways and not do it again, whereas someone who fantasizes about 4 year olds all day long probably has a long-term problem.

I couldn't agree less with this drivel...this writer is lost in some strange self induced fantasy fixation of his own.

Pedophiles do not molest beauty queens of whatever age...they simply harm children who happen across their miserable paths.

The rest of his disgusting accusations regarding Jon Benet and her parents are too disgusting to respond to.

I'm talking about the kind of sexual predator who killed Jonbenet Ramsey. He fantasized about her for weeks or months until he was compelled to act out that fantasy. Now, not all sexual predators kill. Thankfully that is a small percentage. But those who target children, whether they just masturbate in front of them or rape them dont stop. This is not something new. As a matter of fact it is fairly common knowledge. Here in Texas, chemical castration is offered to those who feel they are helpless against their compulsion.

What this has to do with Butch Reno, the Butcher of Waco, completely escapes me.

I used Justice Dept. figures in my posts #149 & #155.

MAWG read a book and is angry. That's OK. It's Saturday night and I'll be having a few too. ;)

Well people can suggest all they want....it is when they begin to demand that I get worried. If it is a kid in clothing it is the parents responsibility. If it is an adult, it is their own responsibility. And if either does not meet with someone elses standards of decency, tough, live with it. I have always had a problem with why is it objectionable for a woman to expose her breasts at the beach? But middle aged guys with C-cup "man-cans" flopping around on the beach perfectly okay? And like I said, many of the people who post these articles are pushing a MUCH bigger agenda that includes much more then just wanting you to dress as they wish you to. I find any faith based desire to restrict others behavior when the behavior is not illegal to be VERY wrong. And it does not matter if it is coming from the Islamic faith, Christian, or any other. I am a live and let live sorta guy.

"I would argue that you're wrong. The differences between individuals are far greater than you'll find by taking homeschoolers vs public schoolers as a group."

I don't think we're defining the issue in the same terms.

I view normal rebellion as things like talking back to parents, being sullen, and generally acting like a 13-18 year old. I'd expect some of that out of any adolescent, regardless of schooling.

What I view as problematic rebellion are such things as drug use, premarital sex, and violence. My argument, and I do agree that I should have defined it better, is that children who are homeschooled have a much lower incidence of those problematic behaviors.

I chaperoned one of the school dances last school year. These were just middle school kids. I had a headache after a night of keeping kids from grinding on each other or discouraging the young ladies from shaking their tails so hard I thought there butts were going to fly off. I kept a good eye on my daughter though making sure she wasn't dancing like a hootchie. I got hit in the head with chicken nuggets and dodged ice and endured because someone has to watch these kids.

LOL! What a great story!

In two short years my son will be in middle school. I better start investigating a helmet designed to protect one from flying chicken nuggets and ice.

Sounds like your daughter has a wonderful mom. :)

There are lies, damn lies, statistics and The New York Times. I look upon Govt. statistics like I do MSM polls. I dont believe either one.

" MAWG READ A BOOK AND IS ANGRY."

Actually I've read quite a few on criminology and forensics in addition to the three written by John Douglas. My point is this: sexual predators always re-offend, they cant help it. Most of them are intelligent and learn how to avoid getting caught. There was a recent case in Ca. I believe, sorry I cant give you chapter and verse, where the offender had a notebook that listed victims in the hundreds.

And yes I am angry. I'm angry that this human filth that harms our children exists. I'm angry that Paulus Van Der Sloot who imo raped Natalee Hollaway and helped his son dispose of her body later, is a free man in Aruba. Justice seems hard to come by these days.

No arguments. We really were talking about completely different things. Unfortunately, incidences of teen sex and drug use aren't as low in the homeschooling community as I'd like, but they're certainly better than what you'll find outside of it.

You have suffered a head injury maybe?

Well, if you do, you should know that there is about a 1000 mile gap between burkhas and preteen hookerware.

We should lock up every male from the age of 18 to 70. Eventually the innocent will be found innocent through appeals, and the true child molesters will be locked up forever.(or 25 years). We should also do this with drunk drivers, jay walkers and democrats.

I'm entirely serious. We don't know who killed Jon Benet. Since we don't know who did it, it is presumptuous to say that the killer was motivated in any way because of her participation in child beauty pageants.

If you believe it was some pedophile stalker/stranger, that's fine but you'd also have to believe he stayed inside the home long after the deed was done to craft a two-page ransom note in Patsy's handwriting on a notepad found in the Ramsey home demanding the same amount as John's bonus then disappeared without a trace. Even if you are still buying that fantasy, you have no proof that the stranger was attracted to Jon Benet because she was in a pageant as opposed to just playing in the yard or around neighbors. Maybe he did it because he wanted to get back at John for some grievance, not because John's daughter paraded down runways in skimpy clothes.

If you don't believe it was an outsider, then you believe it was someone in the family and not likely a pedophile, making the beauty pageant angle highly unlikely.
