Gobsmackingly bananas temperatures, 76°F below mid-January norms, set the stage for an impending climate emergency.
Updated information on the looming climate emergency reveals an Arctic blast sweeping across the Pacific Northwest, extending into the Central and Midwest USA over the next 5-10 days. Temperatures described as "gobsmackingly bananas" are plummeting to 76°F below mid-January climate norms.

Probably a fudge packer.
That would be around -42 F. Is the article talking about Siberia?
Horrible article. I give it zero credibility.
Yes, and if you’re someone who knows what growing zones are, you know that the norms here are to get to -15 at some point during the winters here, usually January or February.
This is totally fear porn.
I see by his charts they are expecting 32° in Miami,if true, I may have to take a ride down there and stock up on some Iguana for the freezer.
This is not a “climate emergency.” It is WEATHER.
Numbers? Places? -30 deg F in Seattle, -50 in Chicago?
Some AI wrote this article.
It's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide.
Our long range forecast here in NH is nothing out of the ordinary.
Sheesh, they don’t need to be so alarmist about it.
Yes, it is unusually cold, but just say so and warn people (who are generally idiots when it comes to dressing appropriately for winter weather) to be careful.
It helps build the arctic Ice sheet, stimulates the replenishment of glaciers, preserves polar bear habitat, increases the planet’s albedo, staying off for another day the existential threat of global warming.
What is not to like?
My heating bills.
We are gonna be in the 50’s next week briefly. If that is a “record low” then bring it on!
But, but......
Fri 12 Rain 42° /33° 61% S 5 mph
Sat 13 Showers 41° /28° 58% SW 6 mph
Sun 14 Rain/Snow 38° /25° 39% S 4 mph
Mon 15 Partly Cloudy 37° /30° 19% SSE 3 mph
A few chilly nights coming up in west central Oregon.
Nothing unprecedented, unorthodox or even out of the ordinary.
Northern Florida gets into the high teens sometimes. It may be unusual but not unheard of. At least that was how it was when I was a kid.
I don’t know where “-76 F below normal” comes from or where it will be at, but that’s very unrealistic.
Our low over the next 10 days is predicted to be -18 F. Normally in Jan it’s should be -25 to -30 F.
Near as I can figure it, the cited source is quoting some social media and trying to make real news out of it. But then again considering journalism these days is basically propaganda, what difference does it make what the source is?
Ooooh, winter.
Yesterday’s headline was a doozy...30 million to be effected by this storm which has given my area in Upstate NY 2 whole inches. And it’s a weekend...no one is out..the roads are empty.
Will it be as bad as the fall and winter of 1976-1977 when the intense bitter cold was used as “proof” the US was heading into THE COMING ICE AGE?
Time to fire up all the co2 generators we got. Leave you RVs running 24/7, burn coal, burn wood, burn electric cars. We can fight this cold with science.
We got 6” in Rome. Typical for January. Everyone is happily skiing.
