At halftime of Thursday’s Dallas-Washington football game, Dolly Parton made a pitch for the Salvation Army but didn’t show up just to ring the kettle bell. In a flash, Dolly appeared all tricked out as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, and as the crowd confirmed, the minimalist style suited the 77-year-old quite well. Parton first busted out “Jolene,” but she hadn’t forgot the working folks.
As Dolly lit into “Nine to Five,” the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders pranced onto the field showcasing the athletic moves that had made them famous. Bob Fosse, call your office. Busby Berkeley, phone home. And as Popeye might say, “what did I do with my spinach?” The cheering crowd joined in on “We Are the Champions,” followed by “We Will Rock You.” Viewers could easily get the feeling that this was about more than a football game.

Ooof! Good one!
At age 83 I missed out on that science.
btw... When she came to do the Cowboys game, she also donated $1 million to the Salvation Army.
That’s a bit different than most half-time performers.
I guess she isn’t aware that Salvation Army went totally woke and became anti-white.
“’We must stop denying the existence of individual and systemic/institutional racism,’ the materials say. ‘They exist, and are still at work to keep White Americans in power.’”
Yeah, and she has money to probably assist in other areas as well, but she still looks nice for 77. Just trying to say nice things about someone who at least appears to have been a nice person all of her life. 🙂
“Went to a Dolly Parton concert at UGA in the late 70’s (76?) as a joke, and WOW what a show, a true entertainment experience. Awesome.”
UGA had a lot of great concerts in the 70s. Also, there was a place on campus called “Legion Field” where there would be free concerts on Saturdays featuring multiple bands. Everyone brought their cooler of beer and sat on the grass in the sunshine and just listened to the music. No fighting, no arguing, just a lot of young people having a great time. Those were the “good ole days”!
She’s packed into a flesh colored full body suit. Even the cheerleaders are wearing support hose.
I didn’t know those were still around. Leggs used to make them. We had to wear them on the dance team in high school so the girls with heavy lumpy thighs looked smooth. Hated them! Tight, itchy and too hot in warm weather!
I’ll take your word on that. 🤣
I think I heard years ago that she has always worn wigs performing. I bet if you met her walking down the street in her own neighborhood, no makeup, fancy get-up, etc., you wouldn’t even recognize her.
I personally think that’s pretty smart. One thing Dolly has never seemed to be is a narcissist.
