In this century, Oakley, for me, is a beacon of deeply American and female toughness and freedom.

A friend of mine is a shooting instructor. He told me that his female students are much better then males because they are better at following directions and don’t show up with bad habits. The one problem they run into is that when shooting a man size silhouette target a lot of them shoot at the crotch instead of center mass.

For what it’s worth, in the Army, the three categories are Marksman, Sharpshooter and Expert in that ascending order.

A place I worked at had a lot of shooters. Every once in awhile we’d get 10-12 together for a Saturday at the range. Of that 4 to 5 were women. The range is in a state park, 25-100 yards, 10 lanes. It was pretty isolated, back in the woods. You had to drive through a, most of the time, shallow creek. There was a pull off before that to park 2 wheel drives if the water was up. Everyone in those would pile into my or another 4 wheel pick up for the rest of the drive.
It was unsupervised, no range master, no 3 second rule. Cease fires and range hot were mutual consensus. Most everybody there were experienced shooters. Those who weren’t had one with them. Never had a problem. Only restrictions were no .50 cal and up or full auto, paper targets only. With that many there were a variety of firearms to shoot. We could blow through some ammo on those days. Lots of fun. ;O)

Yeah I took my wife to the range. Took some coxing. I don’t get to shoot much so I’m definitely below average, but she was shooting at my level immediately. Then I realized her nursing background gave her very steady hands. Nobody wants me giving an IV.

Actually Jerry has a daughter who is a professional shooter as well. I have seen some television specials that include them both. Jerry’s wife and Lena’s mom was a handgun champ.
