Are China's threats against Taiwan a diversion?
Self ^ | 6 DEC 2021 | Mercy Flush

I had a chat with a friend this morning and in the course of the chat he mentioned how China has been quietly building up its forces in Shenyang province, which is adjacent to Russia and North Korea. He says the unusual thing is that the troops and equipment are not being moved into existing military bases but instead into so-called "Ghost Cities" like the Hunnan Xin district of Shenyang City.

He says he first noticed this about two months ago when a number of empty buildings started to have lights in them at night and he could see military vehicles parked in neighborhood parking structures.

Perhaps this is normal activity.

I'm wondering if China might be preparing to make a move into North Korea or the Russian Far East? If Russia gets bogged down in a war in Ukraine and then they get hammered by sanctions a weakened Russia would be hard pressed to defend their Far East.

I post this not to diminish the ever-present threat of China against the free people of Taiwan. It's just on my mind and wondered if anyone else is hearing similar stories from their friends in Northern China about ghost cities coming to life with military activity.

“My question is, how much does China still hate Japan, going back to WWII and before, and how much of a prize would some of it’s islands be, or the whole prize if the U.S. goes gutless and leaves them high and dry?”

The Japanese already have a space program...and could thus build ICBMs (or IRBMs - all that they’d really need) quite easily. It is also not much of an exaggeration to state the the Japanese could, if they wanted to, build nuclear weapons over the course of a single weekend.

Japan also has one of the very best-trained militaries in the world. The Chinese would be damned fools if they even thought seriously about invading Japan...and we WOULD defend Japan, without question (with Taiwan and Biden there is a question).

Er. The Russian Army is no joke. PLA training pales beside the Russians. And Russia has actual combat experience. The Chinese haven’t fought since they got humiliated by Vietnam in 1979.

China will not invade Taiwan. Such an operation would decimate China’s snowflake army and navy. Before an invasion China’s Generals would have to leave their mistresses and learn where their forces are based. A Generalship in China goes for $1,000,000. Competence not required. Just loyalty to Xi.

Chinese Generals have stated that taking Taiwan doesn’t give them the necessary land they need to expand for the ‘sake of their people’. Same with Hong Kong - not enough land. Of course the land in the US is prime but so was our ability under Trump to fight back... and China hasn’t been able to corrupt the majority of DC ‘elites’ yet - and the midterms will make that project more difficult.

So yeah, it’s possible they could take North Korea... I’m sure most North Koreans would be slightly better off under China’s thugs. And the rest of the world won’t give a damn. Maybe it’s a gift to Biden... Biden steps in and plays ‘big man’ defending North Korea - and China gets it’s naval base in the Atlantic.

Is there a single neighboring nation that China does not threaten? You could throw a dart and make a plausible case that they plan to invade and annex portions of any neighbor’s territory. There is no bigger menace to world peace today than China.

I’m not saying North Korea is on the brink of collapse, but chubby boy Un isn’t so chubby any more and the rest of the country has been hit very hard by the downturn in the economy after covid hit. When the bulk of a government’s stability rely upon the health of their God-king despot, a sudden weight loss is concerning.

A destabilized North Korea is more of a threat to China than a stable Taiwan. A destabilized North Korea that the Chinese military could quickly move in to pacify, make quick work of unification with South Korea so the Norks become their problem, and turn the South Korean government into something resembling an ally would be more strategically significant than overtaking a stable Taiwan.

China wants to rule the economic world, not take on more land and hungry people. Invading NK and/or Russia serves then no good.

So, invading anyone is probably not on their list.

Internally,, their economy is about to take a dump. Their food supply is precarious. And, I have to wonder if these troops were moved out of the patch of the Three Gorges Dam.

Moving troops into existing, empty housing is a cheap way to “upgrade” their conditions and keep them segregated from the rest of the population.

Whether they take over those countries before or after, Russia and Chian will consider Ukraine and Taiwan as Xmas presents from Biden and company.

The Russian and North Korean armies are pretty much a joke

The Russians keep there best trained troops and latest equipment along the Sino-Russo boarder, just in case the CCP gets the notion like they did in 1969. They are no joke. However, Shenyang province is a long way from that border.

And don’t forget the real Joke is the PLA, which has never won a war, has no combat experience and sucks at logistics.

Maybe some generals want some free government housing for their mistresses?

Or are enhancing their smuggling routes into North Korea?

What I’ve wondered about is a co-ordinated Axis-of-Evil 4-front war:
1 Russia takes Ukraine
2 PRC takes ROC (or at least the near islands)
3 DPRK takes ROK
4 Iran seizes the Shi’a part of Iraq.

I just wonder if we have the leadership (no), or will (probably not), or capability (maybe) to stop it.

We (Oceania?) go back to the Monroe Doctrine and hope to keep PRC out of the Atlantic.

They could do all three at the same time.

You’ve been reading too many posts by CCP influencers - the PLA is large, corrupt, poorly led, disorganized, poor at logistics, has no combat experience, soldiers are mostly mama’s boys and poorly fed. But they do make nice parades and poses.

Any war would be a major disaster for the CCP. They will use indirect tactics to attempt to get what they want. Trouble is “The Art of War” is studied in all war colleges; their tricks are transparent and their propaganda is for internal consumption and gullible westerners.

Yes, but do they have trannies? Do they have enough women of color? Have they trained their troops on the evils of white supremacism?

We all know these are now the keys to a strong, cohesive military force

Chinese Generals have stated

Public statements by Chinese generals is for internal consumption and silly westerners who think China thinks and behaves as a western country.
