West End musicals ("Chess" and "Young Frankenstein")! Imperial War Museum! London Bridge food tour! The Churchill War Rooms!
The only annoying part is taking all day to get there. I know, First World Problems.
I'll only be there for a week. Any last minute suggestions?
Churchill was born their. Magnificent library
A good conversation opener is “weren’t it for us Yanks twice, you’d be speaking German today”. (wink)
Have fun.....and Go Liverpool!
I forgot about that huge library.
You see the place in a lot of movies.
The grounds are also great for a nice walk towards the lake.
Spent about three hours there.
Yup
That library and atrium was used as the basis for the library and atrium in Beauty and the Beast (animated)
You can visit the courts, just like you can here. It’s interesting to see the difference.
Don’t miss the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. Take time to learn how onemofmthe most difficult problems ever - measuring your longitude — was solved. It’s an amazing story.
Enjoy. The next time you go, grab a train and get out of town. First time, maybe head to the Southwest. Went to the UK 6 times and after the first, I only stayed in London the night before I flew home. They used to have a great rail/drive pass. Haven’t been there for a while. Wouldn’t be caught dead on a bus tour.
Love grilled cheese sandwiches. Hold the onion, though. Pork pie sounds like it could be good, depending on how it's done. I've never tasted or even smelled any Indian food that I would dare go near again. And I was once married to a woman of East Indian descent (Guayanna). Couldn't stand that curry. Made her promise she'd never cook with it in the house. She didn't cook all that much anyway. But whenever we ate at her relatives' houses, and that was too often, IMO, I was forced to eat the stuff. Nice people, in any case. Just hated their food with a passion.
Thanks for your review...I’ve been “through” the UK dozens of times over the past 50 years...But only on stop-overs on the way to elsewhere...Probably regret it now that I never travel out of country...

Off top of my limited consciousness

If I may, after London I suggest trips to Mexico City, Port a Pot Haiti finished up with a walking tour of Compton.
Waiting in the lounge now. Thanks to one and all for the tips!
Both of those sites in Ireland are excellent, as is the lesser well known Newgrange. We did 9 days in Ireland (including a bit in N Ireland) 5 years ago or so.
Tower of London, British Museum, Stonehenge etc
Youll have a great time! I love it there. Last month I saw Absolute Hell (twice) at the National Theatre, Chess and Moderate Soprano. My favorite areas are Soho, Chinatown and Covent Garden for rambling.
DO NOT MISS Borough Market for fascinating food booths - an experience Im sorry I waited this long to see. Portobello Road on Saturday for antiques and street food if you can stand the hordes of tourists..
Besides the British Museum, see the Victoria and Albert Museum and Natural History Museum next door. Tate Modern right by the Thames and the Globe Theatre for modern art and spectacular views, Greenwich is gorgeous for a Thameside stroll - I hadnt visited there before this last trip.
Get your Oyster Card and have a great time!
(My friends swear by visiting Hamstead Heath and Primrose Hill there for views of London but I cant seem to get past the West End!)
In the USA, ingredients and allergen information are listed on all foods in stores. Are they in the UK? (What about Paris?)
Should I take peanut-free food from the USA, just in case?
Peanut products, such as peanut oil and peanut butter, and accidental contamination are also a problem. Any ideas?
Also, any problems getting through customs or air line security with Epipens, Benadryl, and peanut-free food?
What about peanut-free food in restaurants? Anybody had any experiences?
I'm also going to Paris. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks! Love you all, Freepers!
