If The Saudi Arabia Situation Doesn't Worry You, You're Not Paying Attention
Chris Martenson at Peak Prosperity ^

While turbulent during the best of times, gigantic waves of change are now sweeping across the Middle East. The magnitude is such that the impact on the global price of oil, as well as world markets, is likely to be enormous.

A dramatic geo-political realignment by Saudi Arabia is in full swing this month. It’s upending many decades of established strategic relationships among the world's superpowers and, in particular, is throwing the Middle East into turmoil.

So much is currently in flux, especially in Saudi Arabia, that nearly anything can happen next. Which is precisely why this volatile situation should command our focused attention at this time.

The Mideast does concern me, but it is true the author has a long history of posting drivel on various subjects.

China as well is walking a diplomatic tightrope. Its current contracts with Iran run to 625,000 barrels a day as of last January. And while Saudi Arabia has witnessed both U.S. and Russian power projection capabilities in Iraq and Syria, China is yet to demonstrate either capacity or will, especially in view of the certainty that such a demonstration would inherently come at the expense of one trading partner or the other. It's going to be very difficult to keep everyone happy in this menage a trois; in fact, it's impossible, the challenge will be to keep everyone just happy enough.

It isn’t just about the oil...it’s the monetary system to be used for oil purchase (US dollar) it’s the billions in US treasuries held by Saudi (through alliegence Saudi and China could collapse the US economy in a single day), militarily (with a Chinese, Russian, and Saudi bankrolling them) it’d be child’s play.

Much more than oil

I am afraid you are wrong. It’s not about corruption it’s about MONEY. Saudi Arabia is broke, MBS is looking to confiscate about $800 Billion to refill the coffers. Their mess in Yemen and other cash payouts is costing them about $200 Million a day. They are welling oil below production costs and they need $80 a barrel oil or better to have the cash flowing again. It’s all a tinderbox waiting to go off.
I might be persuaded that Oil is going to go up in the next 18 to 24 months back to it’s last high.

Yes! MbS is mini-Trump in a robe. He and Trump are cleaning up the globe. Well overdue.

But how about we produce our own oil again in the interim?

The USA has enough proven oil reserves to be self sufficient.
The solution is: DRILL BABY DRILL.

This article is written from the deep state perspective. Our deep state members are almost completely locked out of Saudi Arabian influence now after the purge. But President Trump is not, as he seems to have a very productive relationship with the Crown Prince. They ignored completely President Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia and his reception there, the business that was done there at that time, and the opening of the Saudi anti extremism center.

While things are happening at a lightning pace, so far events are going Trump's way, not the deep state. So we need to plan to hear a lot of whining about policy from think tanks and John McCain as they lose influence.

It would be nice if we really could stop depending on oil. If we had the ability to just chuck the oil market and run our products on something else, something WE make and so can say bye bye to these murderous nations.

But how about we produce our own oil again in the interim?

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Our dependance is not so much on oil as it is on depending on the petro dollars to buy US Debt.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Exactly. And throw in the refuted “Peak oil” theology.

As you indicated, this has the makings of a massive victory for President Trump and the USA in the war against Corruption, and against Radical Islam.

This blog should never have been posted in News.

In addition, the author errs with several key points about the changes in Saudi Arabia:

To the contrary, these changes under Mohammed Bin Salman (who is in his 50's and not 32 as the blog falsely states) are bringing the Saudi Kingdom into greater unity with the United States, and especially with our president. The entire Middle East may be on the cusp of seeing a remarkable (and potentially painful) transformation toward meaningful peace and stability in the coming weeks.
