‘Shattered’ author details Hillary Clinton’s three major campaign flaws for a Pittsburgh audience

As Hillary Clinton waited backstage on Nov. 8, 2016, she looked over at Bill, who was slipping on his suit jacket, and smiled.

Her campaign staff clinked their champagne glasses, as she walked to the podium, to signal that, come January, the glass ceiling that held back women had been shattered.

Some version of that story with a happy ending for Hillary Clinton’s supporters is what political journalists Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes were preparing to turn into a book, Allen told an audience of more than 100 attendees at the Carnegie Library Lecture Hall on Tuesday. Instead, they wrote “Shattered: Inside Hillary’s doomed campaign.”

In the book, Allen and Parnes outline three major mistakes Clinton made that derailed her campaign. But the authors were just like a lot of people in America and across the world shocked when Trump won. Albeit the ending was not the one they had planned for, the details they gathered were “foreshadowing” of the ultimate result and filled with sordid campaign infighting. What before they thought would have to turn into a story of how Clinton overcame so many setbacks, now became the story of how those setbacks were symptoms of her larger failures.

They published the book in April, one of the first behind-the-scenes looks at what happened. “We did not have to go back and tear things up,” Allen said. "We simply didn’t have to go back. There were a few sentences that changed."

After Clinton lost, more details emerged as many more Clinton campaign staff members were willing to share their stories, adding to the stories they already had....

I was once again looking at her Benghazi “show” and she looked like she was hopped up on something or so damned arrogant and bored at being questioned.......probably BOTH!! I have nothing but hatred for that evil bitch!!!

Well, that. And the fact that even her sickest sycophants don’t actually like her...

The book really spells out these factors in detail, with emphasis on number 3. The Robbie Mook person was totally incompetent and a smug know it all who didn’t know anything about the real world. He trusted his autistic system of data analysis more than the instincts of the perceptive Bill Clinton, and Hillary inexplicably trusted this juvenile geek. Too clever by half, as usual.

She wasn’t a black man. The difference in black turnout between her and Obama in PA, OH, and WI would have been enough to win those states for the dems in 2016. The dems would be nuts not to run another minority candidate for 2020.

Ha, what a clown. I’m not sure male minority voters turn out for a black woman like they would for a black man.

I loved the fact that the “data” showed the campaign officials that the more voters saw of Hillary, the less they liked her. Which helps explain why she campaigned at the pace of a bloated disabled sow.

Forgot about Mook. From Wiki: "Robert E. Mook is an American political campaign strategist and campaign manager. He was the campaign manager for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. Mook worked on state campaigns, leading up to Howard Dean's 2004 presidential campaign." Yee-Hah!!!

The authors said even her own side was shocked by her public announcements of her continual self re-invention strategies.

For me, along with everything else, it was her transparent default to “fighting for the chilrun” every time she was in a tight spot. She wrote that Marian Wright Edelman of the Children’s Defense Fund told her to always say “It’s for the children.” If challenged you can accuse them of being against children. She didn’t realize that Deplorables can read, notice her inconsistencies and self-serving lies, and remember. Has she figured out yet that “Deplorables” was her 47% moment?

thanks ProtectOurFreedom for summarizing those authors’ three reasons she lost. I’d add or point out, that she lost despite the kid-glove treatment given her by 99 percent of members of the so-called profession of journalism (urinalism), despite the fact that she had her campaign staff herd them like animals, forbid questions, and force them into prior restraint. The constant stream of boosterism by the Partisan Media Shills was sickening, revolting, and part of a systematic and decades-long partisan attack on the First Amendment.

It's one heck of a book. What I got out of it was an overwhelming sense of entitlement and the inevitability of victory on the part of Hillary and her campaign staff. The authors state, truthfully I think, that she could at any time prior to announcing dealt with the email scandal simply by acknowledging it and apologizing. It wasn't in her. And so it haunted her as each layer of that onion was peeled off in public for the entirety of the campaign.

The book glossed over two major items that was probably due to its authors' friendly relationship with the interviewees and the desire to maintain that. First, the fact that Hillary performed as well as she did in the debates because she cheated, a fact now admitted by Donna Brazile, one of the cheaters. And second, her actual behavior on Election Night once Trump started taking states she was convinced were hers and hers alone. Of all of the endlessly discussed possibilities I find what they reported - a resigned sigh and a trip to bed - to be completely uncharacteristic and almost certainly false.

It is the last chapter that is particularly damning, because it describes her and senior campaign staffers meeting the day after the election to concoct the Russia fairytale. In April, when the book was published, this was not as significant as it became last summer, the very anchor of her "I was cheated" mythos that serves to comfort only the silliest and most credulous of her True Believers. Was it, in fact, an echo of her inner knowledge that it was she who had colluded, and she who had profited? We may find out soon.

3 reasons she lost

1. She and her campaign misunderestimated how much cheating would be necessary.

2. Too many people figured out she’s a malignant narcisist, pathological liar, thief, probably a murderer and all round, through to the bone degenerate.

3. She and her campaign believed the idiot pollsters so didn’t fraud the vote hard enough in the closing hours.

Black voters certainly hurt her in those states; add in Jill Stein voters (looking for a real leftist, not an opportunistic grafter) and she was screwed.

The author spells out Hillary's loss well:

<><> it was all about her....not America.

<><> arrogantly defying US rules and laws that make us
special......using private emails as Secy of State.

<><> taking huge amts of speech money----
exploiting her public service for cash did not go over well.

<><> she kept spouting "sexism;" voters felt she was blaming them.

I'd add, Bill was not an asset---a possible repeat of Lewinsky was a turnoff.

Her liberal delusions led her to believe that we could actually have coronations in a Constitutional Republic. Even after Barack Obama cancelled the first scheduled coronation in Iowa/2008.

Good Reasons. I would add this:

62+ million of us are tired of the mediots of ABCNNBCBS, so called tv comedians, the fish wraps, the NFL/BLMers calling us stupid, and racist! Then having democrats like Clintoon, Bernie, Pelosi insulting us and calling us stupid racists.

We are turning off the fake news on tv, cancelling our news paper subscriptions, cutting our cables and voting against the elite left wingers.

Last, but not least, we are tired of the above and the National Felon League insulting our flag, our National Anthem and our country!
