My brother, Michael, passed yesterday after an 8 year long battle with cancer. His wife was at his side when it happened. He was comfortable and in no pain.
I'd like to thank all of you who sent your prayers, thoughts, and good wishes to his family 2 weeks ago.
Michael was a fine man. He leaves behind two children who are both in their teens. This is a devastating loss for them. He was a loving father and devoted husband. I've honestly never seen two people more in love with each other.
I think the happiest I ever saw Michael was when his son was picked to compete on The Voice last season. For those of you who watched, he was the young man who sang Sinatra.
Michael was a veteran of the US Navy. He served honorably. He was the second of 5 sons, me being the first born.
Michael has gone home now and his struggle is over. But his family has a difficult road ahead. If I could ask one more time for your prayers, not for me, but for them. Losing ones father at this age is horrible. And they're going to need all the help they can get.
His wife has been a beacon of strength, grace, and character through this. I am absolutely in awe of her. Both she and Michael were at peace with this as part of God's plan.
I only know that I shall miss him terribly.

I am so very sorry for your loss, Lurker. I grieve with you, your SIL and your nephews. Losing a Dad is so difficult.. I’ve walked that path. Your nephews in time may need a loving and concerned male in their lives.. i.e. you. I’ve seen how difficult it was for my two younger brothers when my Dad died. I think they would have been more adjusted and better “men” if we had a loving Uncle near us. Prayers for everyone and again... so sorry for your loss.
