Despite her assertion that there's a 1st Amendment protection given the media to publish the tax returns of someone they deem worthy of scrutiny, Rachel Maddow is woefully ignorant. Just because she plays a journalist on television doesn't make her one.

The law is clear.

After the Trump release its public domain info. Seems to me that should (unfortunately) let MSNBC off the hook.

Not that anything will come of it, I think the law is that she had no right to have access to President’s (or anyone’s) tax return.

The illegal part was that she had access before he released them (and he only released them since she had them).

A lot of law is technical, in this case she broke the law and could be prosecuted. Will she, most likely not.

Would I like to see this as a test case on the limit of the media, yes I would.

Now if the fair journalists were out there, they would release Soros’, Pelosi’, Kerry’s and for the fun of it McCain’ tax returns.

There is no law demanding a Presidential candidate release their tax returns.

It has always been something the Democrats always call out, against another political opponent.

Mr. Trump was a private freakin citizen! There IS a law against a p.f.c.’s tax information being displayed in public.

I heard on the radio that these two pages were reported on by the WSJ over a year ago. I don’t have a source other than that.

I really did not get the whole purpose of Fonzie Maddows release of Trumps tax return. Just what exactly was Fonzie trying to prove?

During the campaign, they wanted to prove that Trump was worth significantly less than he was boasting, since his "credibility" as a candidate came from his business success.

They all felt that his taxes would prove that he was much less wealthy than his public persona led voters to believe, therefore he was a lot less credible a candidate than the voters were being led to believe.

I question if this is a legit copy. First, it has no tax examiner marks on it, it is not from the IRS. Second, it shows $42M from Schedule C. I think a savvy businessman like Trump would not expose himself to such personal risk, he would have that income in a corporation or LLC. Something isn’t right.

I am not certain the law was broken(but I wish she/he had). The law would seem to only apply to information held by the IRS. This appears to not be a version that .gov ever had.

Rachel Maddow is woefully ignorant.

There's an understatement if ever I heard one!

I think that Ms MadCow will be right at home in a women's prison.

Have you seen the list of NBC on air ‘talent’ that’s in trouble with the IRS for NOT PAYING THEIR TAXES?

Chris Matthews is on the list.

After the Trump release its public domain info. Seems to me that should (unfortunately) let MSNBC off the hook.

__________________________________________________________

It is one thing to verbally say something about a tax return even if it includes the amount of tax paid but entirely another thing to release the actual form with a variety of information on it including signatures. Trump has never released his forms, without a court order he is the only one who can, legally.

I think MSNBC could and should be in trouble. Everyone who had the forms could be in trouble and I think should be in trouble.
