Is there a wiser way to use FR?
God, I hope | January 19, 2017 | HiTech RedNeck himself

Well.

It has been 16 years more or less that I have been on FR.

My participation began with the contested Bush-Gore election in late 2000.

I've seen a lot of debate, a lot of discussion, and a wide palette of points of view from left to right and on many spiritual subjects.

I believe the present season, with not just Trump but a new salvational consciousness on the horizon, is an answer from God to the confusion.

Anyhow, as the "age of Trump" comes upon us, are there wiser ways to use FR than to chew the fat on behalf of particular parochial views? Perhaps it would be the time, instead, to look at how a full-salvational God consciousness can bridge what looked like unbridgeable gaps.

I got into a debate today on Facebook. It was with a women's protest movement that, typical of our modern Left, took the LGBT etc. under its wing. Well we know that's folly. I tried to sell them on the point that it was folly. I got asked back whether I'd ever met any of these folks. Well here's where I took a turn I might have taken differently. Rather than saying yes, I've seen them do thus and such, which emphasized how much I knew, I could have pulled the mirror out right there and then, and asked how many conservatives or even centrists that person had met, and are they all the same?

Conservatives can get so fixed on the idea that the Left is ghastly wrong, that they can also forget that even blind squirrels smell out some nuts. A full authoritarian brain wash job towards the Left isn't needed, if we can rightly capitalize on, even empathize with, what they correctly identify as desiderata. Sometimes it's just our own pride or lack of patience that has caused us to get frozen into a certain attitude. As even Trump said, "I'm going to bring us together." Let's give both God and Donald a chance.

Who said anything about “once swine, always swine?”

I just refuse to give credit to “potential ex-swine” while they’re in the process of “oinking.”

I think you pegged it, mumbly.

I expect it very possible that the MSM, squirming in the light of Donald’s “wicked” tweets, will eventually back off its pride enough to start telling first half truths, then 3/4 truths, then 7/8 truths, etc.

It was a heady venture for the MSM itself when it began to realize that it, alone, could push the progress of world events. It doubtless hastened the ignominious end of the Vietnam War. What was sacrificed needlessly in doing such a thing did not weigh upon their minds at that moment.

And, as a side observation, not every war deserves an equal amount of rah-rahs. Some began with bumbles, though defusing them through diplomacy would have been preferable to defusing them through an ignominious political strangling. Political correctness can come at us from the hawk side as well as the dove side.

If perfection were the only good thing, we’d be railing right on at these media no matter what. But perfection does not exist on earth.

Oinks are individual.

Your approach said volumes. Sometimes a manner of acting is, in itself, a witness to the otherwise unspoken.

I am basically tired of dealing with stupid people.

I live out in the country, dirt roads and such. The folk in this part of CO are all Trump.

It isn’t out of place to see a farmer with a side arm at the breakfast diner.

Folks around here aren’t stupid, many natives here can trace back to wagon train days.

Also it’s possible to misuse many divine dicta. Things are often not privileged to be absolutely black or white from our ability to perceive them.

Was that an oink? Or a grunt? Or maybe a squeal? Can other circumstances bring about such expressions? Could we be projecting? Are we up to the task of deeper exploration? All these things need to be taken into account in what often cannot be an initially 100% clear picture.

If a 16 year noob is too noob then FR should be virtually vanity-free (though I hope this is a non-vain vanity).

I guess, for some definition of “stupid.”

Wisdom looks, more and more, like taking the 2nd Commandment seriously, as well as the 1st Commandment which serves as the fuel for the 2nd. I don’t know... can a red neck also be cosmopolitan? I’m trying to be both. The humbler the red neck, the more likely.

Just breathe already. FR works just fine. Engage where you wish and don’t where you don’t want.

I would not get too giddy about Donald Trump doing the will of God, first of all let’s keep a close eye on whether he’s doing the will of the Trump supporters who expect a certain kind of approach to government. That should be the primary focus of FR in this critical first six months.

Well on one level, I’ve trolled up 90 posts or so not counting my own.

On another level, maybe I’ve just told the tide that is rolling in to be wet. Maybe it’s superfluous. Maybe it will happen whether or not I comment. Maybe I can’t (here) be the rooster whose crowing makes the sun come up any faster.

I’ve found that getting proud before God about something good that looks like it is poised to happen, is a good way to see it postponed if not altogether canceled.

I think we can count on acts of God to look just like that, acts of God. Not acts of you and me (if honest, we will see that we were caught up in something, more than choosing to initiate it).

Let’s just be patient, and watch. Not everything has to be about you, or me, or FR, or Jim Rob.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom.”

And with that, the stream of consciousness endeth. Back with me in Kansas again.

My personal suggestion on how to “use” FR is to literally “use” it as a resource, and not try to change it.

I am personally doing that by daily posting (at least 3 times a day) links to FR posts that I think are particularly good or particularly well written or particularly to-the-point on a specific issue. (Never my own posts, only posts of others.)

And where do I post links to these “great” (in my opinion) FR posts?

I tweet them to one of these twitter accounts:

@seanspicer
@Trump
@KellyannePolls
@mike_pence
@TeamTrump
@realDonaldTrump

I am trying to encourage Trump and his team to read FR.

As to the idea of “preaching to the choir”... well, I consider this place a meeting of like minds. I wouldn’t want that to change. And my reading of how Jim R is running this site is that he doesn’t want that to change either.

Read the front page of the site before thinking of ways to change the site.

This IS a conservative forum. Period. End of story. It is not a Safe Place for Snowflakes. Never has been. Never will be.

If someone really wants to go out into the world and try to convert leftists, I’m all for that. But FR is not the place for that. FR is the place for conservatives to hone ideas. That is not preaching to the choir. That is creating a hot-house of ideas.

Ideas that can be shared out to any other alternative forum you choose. In my case, I am sharing FR on twitter to Trump accounts.

Now who’s playing with language?

Presumably, when one is given a directive from The Almighty, it can be carried out without resort to vain navel-gazing . (Or perhaps more more appropriately, “Yea, hath God said...?”)
