VILLA DE REYES, Mexico (AP) -- Word spread quickly through cellphone messages and shouts between co-workers that Ford Motor Co. had canceled its new $1.6 billion car plant at its sprawling 700-acre high desert site in north-central Mexico.
"When I saw it on the phone, (I thought), 'Well, no, it can't be,'" said Higinio Salazar, a security guard who spent the past five months logging traffic into and out of the site and hoped to have steady work for months to come. "It was on orders of Mr. Trump," he said bitterly....

Well before NAFTA. In 1964 Mexico set up the Maquiladora program which was basically a Mexican government effort to lure US factories into northern Mexico with cheap labor and other enticements. The first paragraph of a Wiki article explains it pretty well.
In 1964, the Bracero Program, which allowed Mexican agricultural workers to work legally in the U.S. on a seasonal basis, came to an end. Less than a year after the end of the Bracero Program, the Mexican Government launched the Border Industrialization Program (BIP) or the Maquiladora Program, to solve the problem of rising unemployment along the border.[2] The maquiladoras became attractive to US firms due to the availability of cheap labor, devaluations of the peso and favorable changes in US customs laws.[citation needed] In 1985, maquiladoras overtook tourism as the largest source of foreign exchange, and since 1996 they have been the second largest industry in Mexico behind the petroleum industry.[3]
Mexico has been a parasite on the US economy for quite a long time.
The Mexicans should buy enough fords to justify a plant there. The reason Toyota and so many other carmakers produce them here is because we are their biggest customers and we demand it - not because they love us or are worried about the plight of American workers.

Parasites indeed. I’ve always said that of Mexicans. They’re nothing but a bunch of arrogant beggars who think we’re supposed to make up their deficiencies. I wonder if Mexicans have ever thought of what life would be like for them if Mexico were where say, Columbia is?
I am really really sorry for this fellow but...he has to realize that USA needs MILLIONS of its former jobs restored, brought back, replaced..you name it....
we have nearly 100 million unemployed adults, the most in our entire national history ....
after we get more of our own people job opportunities again, we can discuss projects with Mexico... right now, we need to fix Obama’s damage to USA as our “JOB ONE” (to quote Ford)

A 2006 study claims there have been at least one million sex crimes committed against American citizens by illegal immigrants....mostly Mexican. I really don’t want to hear another thing about Mexico.
