VILLA DE REYES, Mexico (AP) -- Word spread quickly through cellphone messages and shouts between co-workers that Ford Motor Co. had canceled its new $1.6 billion car plant at its sprawling 700-acre high desert site in north-central Mexico.

"When I saw it on the phone, (I thought), 'Well, no, it can't be,'" said Higinio Salazar, a security guard who spent the past five months logging traffic into and out of the site and hoped to have steady work for months to come. "It was on orders of Mr. Trump," he said bitterly....

I’ve had Mexican neighbors half my life and I get along just fine with them. My childhood neighbors would take us home to their grandmother’s place in Mexico for visits (we lived in Southern California) and my first babysitter was Mexican. Never had problem number one from any Mexican, which I can’t say about another ethnic group. That being said, I’m an American.

Man is that depressing to see the magnitude of the transfer of American wealth to Mexico. And to hear the middle aged guy criticizing Trump’s action, why doesn’t he turn his wrath on this own president instead of blaming Trump. He lives in Mexico and sounds very Mexican to me so go file your complaints with your own corrupt president. You would think Mexico is some poor country and it sits on some of the worlds largest oil reserves. It is corrupt liberalism/communism that is the bane of humanity, which deliberately keeps the masses ignorant and poor. So sad!

I notice that when BMW wanted to build the ultra-sophisticated i3 and i8 they came here and not to Mexico or China.

"This parasite nation thinks we owe them a living."

I wonder how long this “owe us a living” mentality has been going on below the border? Probably since Clinton signed NAFTA.

Insights welcome.

Maybe the impoverished, malnourished, enslaved masses of Mexico should put the blame where it truly belongs; the Spanish, white, caudillo class that rules Mexico and has treated them like dirt since Cortez. What do you say citizens of Mexico? Are you going to let your pimp/enslavers continue to abuse you or are you going to finally, maybe, find your pinto-sized cajones and fight your true enemy or are you going to continue to fight Americans who threw off their oppressors 240 years ago.

Quit being stupid and pathetic and depose your own predatory government. You sicken me.

Years ago, Volkswagen moved some of their production to Mexico, and the old Beetles with the rear-mount air-cooled engine continued to be produced there long after it had ceased production elsewhere in the world. These vehicles could not be imported to the US because of the difficulty in passing air-pollution rules in place in this country, so eventually the market dried up and became like the endless drifting dust that sweeps across the high desert that stretches across the northern Mexican plains.

And Ford gets faulted for not expanding production in Mexico?

I really support Trump’s Wall for two major reasons:
1. To better control Illegal Immigration
and 2. to begin to curb the flow of the terrible, addictive Illegal drugs being brought into the United States

A superior wall must be built and built quickly!

México shouldn’t be poor. They have a sun-kissed climate, hard-working people, and abundant natural resources.

It all goes back to the leaders.

I knew it wouldn't be long before the "Poor Mexico" stories followed Trump's successful efforts to bring back American jobs.

Maybe Mexicans should elect the guy who runs on a "Make Mexico Great Again" platform. Isn't it insulting to presume that their success and happiness is dependent upon us giving it to them?

South Korea has few natural resources, a well-armed enemy next door, no oil, a mountainous terrain, was dirt poor a generation ago and is now ahead of everyone else, including us.
