Forty years ago I got a laugh when I explained why I was not continuing my graduate studies in history by saying “There is no future in history.” There also is no future for history as a field of study.
While George Santayana famously wrote “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”, young people today know nothing about history. For my undergraduate students Ronald Reagan, George Washington and Julius Caesar existed vaguely at the same time, back in “ancient times”. Ancient times being whatever occurred before what they remember.
So he gave up on teaching history because of the left? That’s our trouble: we’re weak.

Can’t really blame that on the students. They are only participants in the liberalized progressive educational system.
Those in charge know what they are doing. They are destroying the foundation of civilizations. It is not much different that what ISIS is doing when they completely destroy some historic statue or building or city.
Then look at the wave that went through the South and some northern cities the last couple of years — trying to wipe out all images related to the Confederacy. And that spilled over into various statues and names on college buildings, etc.
Such purges are intentional and have a specific purpose.
Then, those who have little links to the past can be more easily persuaded in the future.
The left cannot learn from history because they just change it to flatter their flawed ideology. Socialist governments weren’t really socialist. Hitler was a capitalist. Islam is a religion of peace and Christians killed millions of people. Thanksgiving celebrates the slaughter of Native Americans and Christopher Columbus wasn’t an explorer—he was a conqueror. I don’t think they even teach history in school anymore except for snippets of it where the bad guys are always racist conservatives.
If you REALLY want to understand the reason that that the left hates SCHOOL VOUCHERS it is because vouchers will enable kids to be educated OUTSIDE of the framework which they control, which is public schools.
On those very easy questions at the beginning, I doubt there is A SINGLE HOME SCHOOLED person that cannot correctly answer them. That is their fear...a loss of control over ‘history’.
Republicans imposed Jim Crow laws during Reconstruction when the Republicans attempted to oppress blacks in the South after the Civil War. Republicans kicked blacks out of schools and government offices so that white supremacy could take over the country. This evil Republican effort was not stopped until Democrats passed the Civil Rights act of 1964.
In the end, all I could do was to tell her that everything she believed to be true was, in fact, a lie.
She walked away thinking I was stupid and racist for blaming Jim Crow and all the rest on Democrats.
All true. I have a BA in History. At one time I
considered going back to school to get a secondary
credential to teach HS. They told me I had to go back
and take Social Science courses. It occurred to
me that if the libs could get away with eliminating
history as an educational discipline then they
could rewrite history and use it to suit their agenda.
Voila. A truly objective study of American history
points to the inescapable conclusion that the US has
been a benefit to the world and we can’t have that.
It’s not just history, or science.
The left has destroyed art, music, literature, education, government and culture. And I suspect even that isn’t exhaustive.

Concerns with being on the quote right side of racism is in and of itself a fools errand
What defines western civilization and conservatism has little to do with how whites have dealt with the dispersal of tropical Africans in our midst
