And This Is Why I Carry Guns When I Walk My Dog
The Captain's Journal ^ | January 1, 2017 | Herschel Smith

Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel:

A man walking his dog Tuesday night near his home shot two people who tried to rob him, killing one and wounding the other.

Deonte M. Thomas, 17, of Milwaukee was shot to death and his 18-year-old companion was wounded, police said. The 36-year-old man had a concealed-carry permit.

The incident happened about 10 p.m. in the 6500 block of W. Euclid Ave. when the two robbers were driving around looking for a possible victim, Ald. Mark Borkowski said.

“Obviously these people picked the wrong person, but not everyone has concealed carry,” Borkowski said Wednesday. “We all get a sense of security because it’s our neighborhood, but we have to be diligent.”

The attempted robbery happened two blocks from St. Gregory the Great parish on Milwaukee’s south side in Borkowski’s 11th aldermanic district, an area that’s normally a quiet neighborhood, he said, but “I think it’s anywhere in our community.

“It’s my understanding these kids were looking for trouble. They had been involved in trouble prior to this incident,” Borkowski said. “To pick a guy who can defend himself has showed that regardless of whether you’re going to engage in this kind of criminal activity, you really don’t know. You may meet your match.”

Milwaukee Police Sgt. Timothy Gauerke said the two suspects may be responsible for an armed robbery about 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, about an hour before the incident on W. Euclid, in the 2200 block of E. Park Place.

Thomas was arrested as a juvenile for criminal trespassing and armed robbery in 2014 while the 18-year-old man, whose name was not released, was arrested in 2014 for auto theft. The 18-year-old man is facing charges of party to the crime of armed robbery and homicide in connection with the incident on W. Euclid Ave.

Gauerke declined to release information about the number of wounds the robbery suspects sustained nor the type of handgun used. The 18-year-old was still hospitalized Wednesday afternoon. Thomas died at the scene.

The 36-year-old man stayed at the scene following the shooting and was interviewed by police. The case will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office to determine whether any charges will be filed against the 36-year-old man.

This man only made one mistake. You get one guess as to what it is.

And he was an aspiring rapper. And a good boy . . . according to his grandmother.

I don’t have a dog.

Doesn’t change my habits.

That is the thing about a gun or any other weapon.

It needs to be within easy reach.

Ahhhh, the good ol’ Felony Murder Rule! Be part of a felony in any way, and if that felony results in a death, of ANYONE, by ANYONE, then you’re on the hook for a homicide. The famous example is a getaway driver who never enters the store, the clerk shoots at the gunman (even if he has an empty gun), the clerk misses and kills a random customer, and the driver gets a murder charge. The lesson is... don’t be involved in felonies!!

I’m sure Deonte’s mama will say he shouldn’t have been shot.

“...Maybe it’s not crap....”

No, it is crap.

The fact is, when you’re faced with that scenario, God forbid, all the “range time” in the world doesn’t matter; paper targets don’t shoot back. Punching holes in paper is NOT the same thing as facing down an armed perp who can and will shoot you to death. Ask any Cop. I know a lot of them. They’ll tell you the same thing.

He was faced with a life or death situation, and he came out on top of it - he’s still alive. But he’ll live with the knowledge that he killed “a kid” (I know, a thug, had it coming, etc., etc). And all of the attendant bullsh*t legal hassles that the libtardniks in the “justice” system and media will heap on him haven’t even started yet.

One of the bad guys isn’t alive. The other one MAYBE has had his life dramatically changed (for the better) if he survives. It’s his own fault, so I have ZERO sympathy for them - It happened entirely because of THEIR own actions, and this sounds like a completely clean, justifiable shoot. They f*cked with the wrong guy, and got their asses handed to them.

My sympathy is with the ordinary Citizen just walking his dog and forced into it by thugs. Thank God he was able to walk away from it alive.

I’ve been a regular every Sunday at the range for 9 years, I just avoided getting a concealed carry permit because I did not want to be on a list of gun owners while the communists controlled the government.
I figured they would be the first to be visited if they ever went for confiscation.
After Trump won, that concern evaporated. Trump is the most 2nd Amendment President since Teddy Roosevelt.

But, poor little Deonte and his friend Felonious were just out trying to earn money to buy college textbooks.

Such a shame it turned out this way......

“..Sorry....”

No need for apologies, brother. It’s just a discussion.
All good.

I’m hoping this guy comes out on top of EVERYTHING - cops call it clean and let him go on his way.

The other perp’s family and friends may be coming after this man as well, so he’s got to have his head on a swivel.

It just struck me what a bullet we dodged with Hillary losing.

Trump is still a bit of a mystery but seems good so far.

Hillary would have continued Obama’s radical agenda. It may already be too late but at least we now have a fighting chance.

Hillary would have banned all guns except those carried by her minions and she would have called it “common sense gun control”.
