The real story about that lack of Trump lawn signs
American Thinker ^ | October 13, 2016 | Russ Vaughn

Posted on 10/13/2016 7:39:02 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Jay Michaels wrote recently here at American Thinker of the lack of Trump yard signs this election compared to the number of Mitt Romney signs back in 2012. Back then, in his solidly middle-class neighborhood of “cops, nurses, teachers, plumbers, electricians, landscapers, small business owners, and retirees,” there were Romney signs displayed on the lawns of twenty percent or so of the 130 homes. Now there are no Trump counterparts.

Michaels concludes that this lack of signage is indicative of less support for Trump, with a supportive theory that it may be a matter of marital political discordance, where wives are less inclined to vote for Trump because of the candidate’s boorish behavior toward women. However, a quick survey of the many comments following the article will quickly disabuse you of that as the primary cause for the lack of Trump signage. Far and away, the most frequently expressed reason for failure to publicly demonstrate a citizen’s loyalty and support for The Donald with signs or bumper stickers has nothing to do with domestic disagreement within the home, but rather with liberal Democrat lawlessness.

Comment after comment to Michael’s article reveals a reluctance to publicly declare one’s political stance for fear of signs of being stolen and homes and yards vandalized, or, especially in the case of bumper stickers, with one’s car being keyed by inspired members of that mob of supporters of free speech and inclusivity who support Hillary Clinton. Those comments came from wide swaths of this country and, quite sadly, represent a reality that this old man never thought he’d live to see: Americans afraid to publicly post their political loyalties for fear of retribution from disagreeable fellow citizens....

wearing a Trump MAGA hat will get you attacked walking down the street.

of course, in a normal society, those thugs would be arrested and put in jail. but we gave up on following the law a long time ago

so why would i want to give the freaks a free shot at my car or home?

This is totally correct.

It’s wrong that it is correct.... but one must be careful displaying support for Trump in public. Anytime I have done so I have encountered open hostility. And I live in a Red area. These Liberals are unhinged and extremely fearful of Trump.

I advise carrying any time out in public while displaying support for Trump.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I can just imagine some families will have difficult gatherings. The divisions caused by this campaign will still be fresh in everyone’s minds. And if the liberals win this election, you can imagine the more immature and loudmouth relatives will gloat about Hillary.

I had signs stolen the night before the primary election. I know one dude on my street put his sign behind a chain link fence going around his yard. It hasn’t been touched. I do worry about psycho libs throwing green weenies over the fence for my dogs though so I’m not advertising. I had some asshole take a key to my corvette trying to remove a “NoBama” sticker back in 2008 in a public parking loot and in broad daylight no less.

As far as one’s vehicle goes...I suggest a removable sign in one of your vehicle windows that does not block your view, remembering to take it down when you park.

Of course, they may still shoot at you but at least then you’d be a moving targets

A friend in Northern Indiana has had hers stolen FOUR times before she finally gave up.

The last one tried to start a fire on her porch, as well. All caught on tape, yet the cops haven’t found (or even bothered to look for?) the perp.

The Prince of the Air 1939 Germany is loose in the U.S.

The number one thing that should be happening now, are Trump Teams should be going door to door, and help voters down to their Board of Elections to register to cast their Absentee Ballots.

I had my Trump yard sign stolen after only being out for 2 days. My trail cam didn’t catch them. It was too dark out.

For the same reason there weren't many Otto Wels signs in Weimar Germany? (Did I just break Godwin's law again?)

"Perp" is a very loaded word, suggesting illegality. A video tape might prove that a crime has occurred, but it proves nothing about intent. And absent proof of intent, no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case. Just ask FBI Director Comey!

What on earth do these people think they’ll accomplish by peeling off bumper stickers? Do they think you’ll walk out to your car and say, “Oh! Guess I better vote for Hillary now”?

We live in SEIU land....I did finally put a bumpersticker on my car...figuring since it needs a paint job, I’d risk any keying. In our yard? Not yet...still thinking of putting a sign in my office window upstairs. What’s interesting, is that the usual neighbors who would have Hillary signs don’t have THEM, either.

I see few Trump or Hillary signs on cars or yards. Occasionally I see “Hillary for Prison” signs on cars though which is encouraging.

I put ours out today. Feeling a bit scared. Our son is visiting and he will be pretty cranky. I love him but he was a Bernie supporter. I’m just going to tell him that as a pro-life Catholic this is what I will do. There is no other choice.

They don't think, they react. Like a small child, they jerk to remove unwanted stimulus from their line of sight. And they have no respect for the opinions, property, or rights of others.

The left is lawless.

Hell, I had Bush/Cheney signs stolen from me more than once back in ‘00 and ‘04. I knew who was doing it too but never caught ‘em. I was too embarassed to display any Romney signs.
