Moral Foundation Theory: The Reasons You Can't Convince Libs Based on Facts
Ted Talks ^

I am reading his books now. He used to be an activist for Kerry and Obama. His research indicates that this difference is worldwide and throughout all societies.

And that conservatives not only understand libs better than vice versa, but are more balanced in their moral foundations.

You can not convince a liberal to become a conservative. Not a real liberal any way.

The whole basis of liberal ideology is that they want to boss people around.

Camazotz is the liberal dream world although they all want to be It.

I think being a lib means suppressing your conscience.
When your basic m.o. is getting something for nothing you know that you are taking from someone else.
The lib conscience isn’t worried about harming someone else so much as getting caught or losing their advantage or special status.
Suppressing your conscience manifests itself in all kind of mental issues...paranoia, escapism, fantasies, projecting, narcissism, depression...
The poor/uneducated “libs” sellout for welfare crumbs while the rich/educated libs sell out for government “perks”

Libs have a harm/care view, which is needed for mothers to rear young.

Conservatives have a broader basis to make decisions on. Needed in ancient times to relate to other hunter gatherers.

Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Well that just shows you are commenting without any basis or background in MF Theory. It is universal and more of a response to human survival.

Yeah that is true. But as the successful salesman can ‘see’ what is going on inside a prospects head, a good political debate benefits from knowing how the other person thinks.

Yeah, that is true but there is a LOT more to it than that.

I have to disagree that one of the 2 values Liberals primarily use is Fairness/cheating. Most of the liberals I have dealt with (among my relatives, employees, local government) think lying and cheating are just fine for them if it gets them what they want. Just play board games with them (they believe cheating is just a strategy to win), or talk to them about issues with getting coverage from Auto insurance - if the insurance company pays in one circumstance (an event is classified as an Act of God) but not another (incident is evidence of carelessness), they are quick to say “Oh, just lie about it, they won't know). I don't hear many people with a solid moral foundation saying that.

Benjamin Franklin, Signer of the Declaration of Independence “[O]nly a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”

Thank you for this FANTASTICLY true quote.

Um, in my opinion, Divinely Lead our Founders......DONT LET IT GO TO WASTE AMERICA.

We are unique.

I admit I don't have any basis or background in it, I am hearing it for the first time and trying to understand it.

Natural Law *is* universal. Natural meaning we have it by our very nature, and it doesn't come from super-natural sources like divine revelation. That nature that would include survival of course, so I fail to see what you are objecting to.

But you go ahead and explain it to me if you think I've misrepresented it.

Didn’t mean to offend you. Sorry. I was just saying they are different and have no relationship to each other.

It's the arrogance of considering themselves better and more important than the masses.

Close; not quite right, though. It is not feeling superior to other people, it is feeling equal to, or better than God that make them this way. They are their own god; they decide what is morally "right" and what is "wrong". Without an outside force regulating this process "right" and "wrong" become a relative term only to themselves, and not to the greater whole of humanity. That's why libs can fly around the world, burning tons of fossil fuels, all the while lecturing the rest of us about our air conditioning or SUV; among other lib activities.

No worries, I am just puzzled why you say they have no relationship. They are clearly both positing an innate natural morality, no?

Conservatives and decent people are as always at a disadvantage when it comes to dealing with liberals. If there were enough conservatives who played by the rules of libs,it would be a totally different ball game.

That the events of September 11, 2001 did not convert the liberals to the eminent danger of jihadism, and the inherent superiority of Judeo-Christian-Aristotelian principles, forces one to a grave conclusion, that it will take a much more grievous event to shake them from their foundational principles and experience the metanoia necessary for our national and philosophical survival.

And since we're the good guys we can't just kill 'em all and be done with it, like they would to us if they could.

Thanks - well put and a valid amplification of my description. Explains how their hypocrisy, which is obvious to us, is non-existent from their perspective.
