In this seven minute video, CNN talks about a single mother who is struggling to raise her child on the small salary that she earns at McDonald’s.

As is always the case with news articles from the mainstream media about struggling single mothers trying to raise their children, the article says absolutely nothing about the baby’s father.
The article doesn’t say that the father has a responsibility to provide for the baby that he chose to create.
The article doesn’t say that the mother has a responsibility to choose a responsible mate to make her baby with.
The article doesn’t say that if they got married, they would only have to pay rent for one apartment instead of two, and so things would be a lot easier.
The article doesn’t say anything about the mother ever having made any attempt to acquire better education and job skills as a way to get a bigger salary.
By comparison, this news article by Inside Edition fully understands the concept of personal responsibility. The article is called “Mom Cries On Dock As Cruise Ship Leaves With Her Kids Still On Board,” and includes the following brilliant quote, the kind of quote that is completely missing in the CNN article about the McDonald’s worker:
Travel expert Mark Murphy told IE: “It is the woman’s fault for not getting back on time. It is not the cruise ship’s fault. It is not the captain’s fault. It is not the cruise line’s fault. Everybody knows the posted time to get back and that ship is on a schedule, it is going to go.”
I absolutely love that quote. I praise Mr. Murphy for saying it. And I praise Inside Edition for including it in the article.
CNN, and all the other mainstream news organizations that write about struggling single mothers without ever mentioning the children’s fathers, should learn a lesson from Inside Edition about how to write a proper news story.
It is also not McDonald’s fault that she has skills and abilities that limit her to working at a fast food joint.
I am sick to death of people making their poor life choices other peoples problems!
Safiyyah Cotton?
What the Hell kind of name is that?
After teaching for years, I can tell you a huge number of young people are DETERMINED to do what they want and make someone else pay for the consequences. Determined doesn’t even begin to describe it, really.
Why doesn’t CNN hire her?
Lively set of comments at the youtube, mostly running against the idea that a woman who is only worth $7.50 an hour should have a kid to begin with.
I notice she has a roof over her head, paid for by taxpayers (which doesn't include her due to her income, which probably qualifies her for earned income credit). Her baby has free healthcare, and her food costs are subsidized, again paid for by taxpayers. All in all she is probably living on an equivalent 30,000 dollar a year income from McDonald's and the taxpayers.
Heh heh heh. Good point.
EXCELLENT take away. Let that be repeated. Some 16 yr old girl may be on a sofa reading this. But CNN most definitely could offer her a job and start out at 85,000 dollars a year. It might UP the gene pool over there at CNN, they need this kind of talent that Cotton has to bring to the camera.
Since ‘educators’ refuse to deny the illiterate and ignorant a high school graduation, let’s give them an extra-long tassel for their mortar boards which they can then use to tie their ankles together while demonstrating their school spirit.
Bernie wants a basic living fund for all Americans rich and old at 31,000 a year. So this young woman would actually be making 61,000 a year and everyone in America is happy. Lol.
Those are Bernie's Army.
Determined? They are entitled! It's in the core curriculum
Problem is 61,000 is just a number, and when all is said and done it will be worth less than it is today and the poverty line will have risen to 100,000. Thus they will still be struggling to make ends meet. These people, including Sanders, just don’t think it all the way through.
Safiyyah Cotton?
Well, since she got pregnant I guess we can deduce that someone picked Cotton.
why doesn’t CNN give her a job?.. CNN’s a company, a business, just like McDonalds they hire people too... hire her... give her a job...and pay her what they think she needs?
That is the Godless mindset of today.
A better career move for her would have been to keep her legs closed.
