Ted Cruz, a breath of fresh air in Upstate!
The Albany Times Union Joy In These Days Blog ^ | April 8, 2016 | Liz Lemery Joy

Dear Readers,

I had the opportunity to listen to Ted Cruz yesterday. As a Christian voter and lifelong Upstate New Yorker I value the things he had to say. He was a breath of fresh air to our area! A welcome contrast to the typical pompous, political windbags like, Gov. Cuomo, Kirsten Gillibrand, Chuck Schumer, Paul Tonko- and the Times Union Newspaper- (which absolutely stumps for all of them on a regular basis).

I love New York… I was born and raised here. All my relatives are from here, and post active-duty military service, my husband and I returned to raise our children here. While he was serving, we lived all over the country. Of all the places we lived, it was hard to compare to the beauty of the Catskills and Adirondacks. We have so many stunning rivers, lakes, and countless choices of hiking, swimming and skiing…

Yet, so many wonderful, hardworking New York natives have fled our state. Why? Because of corrupt, bullying dictator politics, over regulation, oppressive taxes, and zero job growth! So it was refreshing to have a level headed candidate, who actually respects the Constitution, come and address voters in our area. People in upstate are hurting economically and the power hungry Albany machine has done nothing to help.

Ted Cruz is morally grounded and reveres God. One of the things that is of utmost importance to the Christian voter is that he values protecting innocent life. Again, unlike New York blowhards-(Gov. Cuomo, Kirsten Gillibrand, Chuck Schumer, and Paul Tonko) Ted Cruz is opposed to abortion. He actually takes to heart and respects that God is the creator of life…all life!

While our own ‘Dictator in Chief’ (Andrew Cuomo) wastes his time, and our money, making ridiculous travel bans to Mississippi and North Carolina, and has repeatedly told fellow conservative New Yorkers we aren’t welcome here…. Ted Cruz focuses on smaller Government, tax alleviation, and job creation- something conservatives have been longing to hear from a serious candidate. Conservatives understand that in order to see any economy thrive we need to stop over-regulation and decrease the taxes.

After 8 years of Obama and his calamitous regime, we need new, fresh leadership. Hillary Clinton doesn’t honor life. She is pro third trimester abortion up until the time of birth. She also abandoned our servicemen in Benghazi. Bernie Sanders supports third trimester abortion as well, and wants to increase our taxes even more…

How a person values other people’s lives absolutely determines how they will govern in office. Why? Because how they regard the worth of another human life, determines where their moral compass is and how they will carry out everything they do in political office…If a leader doesn’t value life, they will also disregard and be callous to other matters of governing and legislating that require principle and virtue.

We need a President of the United States that truly honors and reveres life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I believe Ted Cruz may be that person.

Cruz didn’t kill Trump. Wisconsin is not an indicator of anything. The next primary is NY and Wisconsin will be quickly forgotten.

But Cruz might have hurt Trump by somehow managing to smear Trump with Cruz’s own sex scandal. Roger Stone probably didn’t do Trump any favors by commenting on it and getting himself quoted in the National Enquirer. But Trump fired Stone way back early in the campaign and the press and Cruz just keep tying Trump to Stone.

I’m guessing Trump fired Stone for this very reason. Stone may have wanted to play dirty and Trump might say some hard truths but he doesn’t play dirty.

Still, come NY, Wisconsin will be forgotten. And Cruz will be seriously suffering from failure to thrive.

deluding the gullible to join the evil in the destruction of America.

I notice you trumpettes have glommed onto your word of the week.. "deluded." If, God forbid, your orange-headed carnival barker gets the nomination, he will go nowhere in the general election but to an epic defeat. A vote for Trump = a vote for Hillary.

You post a positive personal reflection on Ted Cruz, and within moments the conversation is polluted by vulgar comments. Predictable, sadly.

CRUZ is not only lyin Ted, but a slimy politician that will do anything to get ahead. Anything....

This Canadian, with his holier than thou preaching is just awful.

He pauses all the time, even when speaking to 1 person, at an interview, he has this annoying pause, like he is in a college debate class, again.

Trump might regret then trashing all the republicans along the way which has led to his diminishing support instead of growing support.

Amen to that... sooner or later, Trump will have to mend fences with a lot of people who don't like him and sure as hell don't trust him.

Cruz is playing the role of the turd in the punch bowl, deluding the gullible to join the evil in the destruction of America.

Could you explain that a little better? I need to know because I’m in that group of “gullibles” and would like to know who exactly is “the evil” that you are referring to.

Heidi said Ted Cruz was running to show this country the face of the God that we serve.

She went on to explain this is in a large part because “this Christian God that we serve is the foundation of our country” and people need to be reminded that “Christians are loving people, are nonjudgmental people, but there is right and wrong, we have a country of law and order, there are consequences to actions and we must all live peaceably in our own faiths under the Constitution.”

She didn’t say he was the face of God.

So, if someone has a disagreement with the fact God is the foundation of this country, that’s their issue.

When I was young it was said Democrartes are for the poor and Republicans are for the RICH. It was true then. Many seem to still believe it.

All it took was to grow up get a job and see how the government has bleed it workers with taxes. Again and again.

Now Obama has indebted America more than all the previous Presidents added together. He intended to change America ... and He has done his best to continue to America’s destruction. Let us WAKE UP and STOP the doom of America. Flooded with too many immigrants to fast, depts. (more tan all the Presidents before Him added together.

STOP OBAMA from destroying America as we have know it.

Too little Too late will not work.

Durbin Said: Except 2DV went on to say “Cruz is playing the role of the turd in the punch bowl, deluding the gullible to join the evil in the destruction of America.” so there’s that.

Nope. That was not posted by 2DV. You should post a correction.
