Cruz is in no way dumb. But the Telegraph has been one of the only papers reporting on the Left’s follies over the years. Haven’t paid much attention of late but I don’t think it can be called “socialist” unless I have another British paper in mind.
Cruz has done and said some very dumb things of late, though.

It’s always been a mystery to me, that the POTUS candidates are supposed to be the best available from 350M people.
Conservatives make up a minority of the electorate. Maybe 25% on a good day. Hence, it cannot win nationwide and rarely statewide with the semi-socialist electorate it faces.
Conservatism MUST attract all patriots, populists and nationalists to win. ONLY Trump can do this.

Comparing Hillary's barking with Ted's Elmer Gantry routines, I do not think there is a clear winner.
That said, I do not believe the "birther" stuff, which is about all there is in the article, is going anywhere.
The RINO leadership are the elected officials who ignore the electorate and the political consultants who work to dismiss the grassroots.
That group alone comes to maybe a couple a hundred people who just happen to have put themselves in positions of power.
That leaves all us out here, who unfortunately get easily discouraged when a McConnell does his thing.

You really should stop selling Democratmedia crap. Trump is EXACTLY the kind of candidate the party has called for for years. Someone who can attract patriots, populists and nationalists.
It should be obvious to even the most dense that conservatives make up MAYBE a quarter of the electorate.
The more intelligent section of the Republican base is tired of LOSERS and ready for a WINNER ready to fight our enemies rather than surrender first, last and always.

That’s the big one. There is nothing more radical Leftist than exonerating lawbreakers, thugs, anarchists and self-declared-racists, while blaming their vile behavior on law abiding citizens. Look at the way Black Lives Matter got a pass on burning up large swaths of Ferguson, while the police were singled out and blamed for everything.
In Chicago Soros—this is documented—George Soros, no less, paid rent-a-mob racists to attack Trump supporters...and Cruz blamed Trump. It gets no more Leftist than that.
But me, I still can’t get past Cruz own Tweet advocating mass legalization. That is Leftist on so many levels. Obama is the one who wants to change the culture of America by legalizing the Foreign Invaders he’s allowed in by the millions. No conservative should lend him any level of support in that objective.
