"The party has not lifted a finger to help him..."
Noting that Sen. Ted Cruz has waged a zealous, uphill campaign in the shadow of other candidates the headline writers have focused upon, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh admonished the oddsmakers Friday not to write off the Texan too soon.
Limbaugh was asked by a caller, "Do you think that Cruz still has an honest chance to win?"
"Yeah, I do," Limbaugh said as part of his reply. "I don't think it's anywhere near over yet."
Limbaugh noted that Cruz has been last in media publicity, but has soldiered on with a prodigious fund-raising ability and is a strong second to front-runner Donald Trump.
"Everybody wants you to believe one of two things: It's over, Cruz is not gonna get there, Trump is, and we're gonna go to a contested convention and it's gonna be between (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich and whoever else the establishment can throw up," Limbaugh said. "It still amazes me."
Limbaugh added, "And here, again, nobody's talking about Ted Cruz. And he's there every day, and he's out campaigning. He's going everywhere, and he is in second place despite all of the obstacles that have been put in his way. So I think he can win.
"He is hated by the establishment, and they are the ones that totally ignore him. The party has not lifted a finger to help him, and even now when they are starting to, they make it known that they're not happy to be doing it.
"He is being dwarfed and swamped by unprecedented coverage of Trump, who hasn't had to spend any money to get it. Nobody wants to talk about Ted Cruz. We're told over and over that everybody in the Senate hates him. We're told over and over everybody in Washington hates him. But yet he's in second place and he's won nine states. So you're asking me if I think Ted Cruz can win? Yeah, I do. I don't think it's anywhere near over yet. "
“Ask the Cowboys from back in the day under Landry if a 14 deficit five minutes is possible. If your good enough, time sometimes doesnt matter. lol”
Yes, but Cruz doesn’t have the leadership qualities of Landry or Staubach.
In your opinion, he doesn’t. Maybe in mine and a whole lot of others he does. We may never know for sure until he is in and out of that situation.
Our opinions differ, but I’ll admit that it’s interesting to imagine Staubach inviting Beck into the huddle for a pep talk.
I agree that would be amusing to see.
Go Penn State!
Why? His addiction was discovered, (even tho his HIPPA rights were violated)he was headline news and he served his time in rehab.......
You're another one who would like to see him taken out completely aren't you? Then who would your next target be?
It was a good speech so why not compliment him on it?.......Sheesh, so much biased hatred around here.
I don't mind his Apple stuff cause I'm a computer geek. But his nonstop droning about who he went golfing with, and who he had dinner with, is getting boring.
That being said, when he is trying to bend the rules on whoever is yanking his chain, his ability to ask trenchant questions and get to the unspoken core of an issue, or raise the point everyone else is trying to keep other people from finding their way to, ... that remains unsurpassed except by whenever a few FReepers put their heads together. :-)
I don't find it boring at all and in fact I find it a refreshing break from politics. As a side note, I don't get where your "nonstop" comes from.........but whatever.
I hate golf. :-)
Im talking about Republican primary voters. You would think in any state if Cruz could get 70% of the most conservative voters he could perform well. That won’t happnen now.
Good points — and it would be a miracle of God to see Trump stopped. The last thing I want is to have to pick between two longtime NY liberals.
“Good points and it would be a miracle of God to see Trump stopped. The last thing I want is to have to pick between two longtime NY liberals.”
Amen.
What I cannot understand is that these same Trump-pets, who wouldn’t even vote for Romney in the general election, are trumping up this RINO on steroids as the Republican nominee.
He's goping to have to reaise the dead as well.
