Ted Cruz Didn’t Lie: The Entire Carson/Cruz Fight Timeline
Constitution ^ | February 5, 2016 | Rob Knowles

Politics is a fast-paced and unpredictable game, and sometimes, unfortunate things happen. That's the best way I can describe what occurred on caucus night in Iowa when CNN implied that Ben Carson was dropping out of the Republican race, and the Cruz campaign swiftly alerted caucus-goers that they should consider voting for Ted Cruz instead.

Let's start from the beginning.

Shortly before the Iowa caucus was set to begin, CNN's Jake Tapper reported: ...

Thanks, Liz! Now I have an image of Cruz with his pants down. Just before breakfast.

Here’s what I see. The Carson campaign released the information to CNN that Carson was going home to Florida and was not going on to New Hampshire or South Carolina. Every political pundit that saw that information interpreted it that Carson was suspending his campaign.

That CNN report has proved to be true. As of right now, Carson has not held a single campaign event since he left Iowa Monday night.

You do realize the entire MSM and GOPE hate Cruz? Many have laid out this time line.

“Ben Carson’s wife was at an Iowa caucus when Cruz/s desperate trick to get votes was in play. She asked if she could speak on the subject....she told the caucus goers none of it was true....Carson was still running. Incidentally, Carson won that caucus”

If Carson was trying hard enough to have someone at every caucus, then things might have gone better for him. The fact he had such a poor ground game led to the question of how much he was really in the race.

Cruz apologized because his campaign did not follow up when later in the evening the Carson campaign put out that he was not leaving the campaign. Cruz knew nothing about any of this until the next day.

I will have to say the CNN report has held true so far. As of right now, Carson has not held a single campaign event since he left Iowa Monday night. There are two more primary elections this month. That doesn’t sound like a serious candidate to me.

JEFF ROE IS TED’S CAMPAIGN MGR, HAS DONE THIS BEFORE

Southwest Missouri Congressional candidate Scott Eckersley blames the campaign staff of his Republican opponent for issuing a hoax that he had suspended his campaign.

An e-mail sent to news media outlets and a ‘tweet’ issued by a fake Twitter account announced that Eckersley had suspended his campaign due to personal reasons.

Eckersley blames his opponent, Republican Billy Long, for sending out the hoax days before the election.

‘You know this is dirty politics. This is Jeff Roe-style management. That’S who Billy’s retained. That’s who he writes the big checks to,’ Eckersley tells Missourinet affiliate KTTS. ‘This is Kansas City management doing what they do best, which is playing dirty.’

As I understand it, each campaign in each caucus in Iowa had a “captain” who championed their candidate to the group. If so, and since everyone is a Jedi-knight with their cell phones nowadays, why didn’t the Carson captains check it out immediately and refute it IF the Cruz captains were stating that Ben MIGHT (and yes the word MIGHT was used) drop out of the race???

The audio was NOT Ted Cruz speaking.

That is true.

Of course that is what he tried to do. What would you do if you are right in the middle of a caucus and you just got news that your your main competitor for a certain voting block is taking a break from the campaign/dropping out...you would instantly inform your people in the field. That’s exactly what happened.

Yup. This is a tempest in a teapot, and the fault lies with CNN.

BS. Cruz lied. Period.

No. The Cruz campaign forwarded a CNN report that Carson wasn't going to New Hampshire or South Carolina following Iowa. That's all.

It is true that everyone assumed this meant Carson was reevaluating his candidacy. That was my reaction to the CNN story as well. How was anyone to know that Ben just needed a change of clothes? Frankly, that's not a cover story that would have occurred to me in a thousand years.

It is also true that Steve King, a Cruz supporter, speculated on air several minutes later that it looked like Carson might be dropping out. That was, IMHO, an entirely fair speculation. Who would be dropping out after Iowa, who might drop out after New Hampshire, who will drop after South Carolina, etc. is a staple of campaign talk from all who are following the process. It is a perfectly fair topic of discussion. Given that Carson's camp had let slip his curious post-Iowa schedule, King's observation was entirely in order.

The Carson campaign should have gotten someone on CNN to update the broadcast story. That's what didn't happen.

Apparently the CNN story is true. As of right now, Carson has not held a single campaign event since he left Iowa Monday night. There are TWO more primaries within a month and he’s MIA.

Actually, if you look at the timeline, the main fault lies with the Carson campaign for putting the story in the first place, and then CNN and Ben Carson for trying to make it look like the Cruz campaign were up to dirty tricks, when in reality they were just following and acting on the news in real time.

Nah, Ted has long since moved on. It is people like me who have the time to hang back and make sure the truth comes out. Believe me, as the truth spreads about the continual lies that spew forth from the other side, it will pay major dividends down the line.

How about a teeny tiny taste of what the dems will do to the Donald

If Trump is the nominee, he will be radioactive by Election Day. Trump's habitual vulgarity, and especially his abusive treatment of women, is notorious. It is astonishing to see so many people here dismiss various Trump incidents as old news. (Not that the Dems won't make 20 year old transgressions an issue.) Trump's bad behavior has been the pattern of a lifetime. You can't dismiss 30 years of flagrant womanizing and philandering by a candidate who THIS YEAR mocked Carly Fiorina's appearance and indulged in truly cringeworthy vulgarity about a journalist's menstrual cycle. This is one of the few things in Donald's life about which he has been utterly consistent.

Hugh Hefner will still vote Democrat. Larry Flynt, however, may still be reachable. He's more Trump's type.
