What Trump Just Said About The LGBT Community Will Make Conservatives Go Crazy (VIDEO)
Addicting Info ^ | February 5, 2016

In a stunning reversal, Donald Trump said that he will strengthen the rights of the LGBT community and bring people together. His new stance comes just days after he said that as president, he would “strongly consider” overturning Obergefell vs Hodges, the Supreme Court decision that found that same-sex couples have a legal and constitutional right to marry.

“I’m a lesbian, we’ve had some great progress for the gay and lesbian community,” NECN reporter Sue O’Connell told Trump. When President Trump is in office, can we look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians?” Here is Trump’s response:

“Well, you can. We’re going to bring people together, and that’s your thing, and other people have their thing. We have to bring all people together and if we don’t we’re not going to have a country anymore.”

Now that’s one big flip-flop because in addition to Trump saying he would appoint judges to overturn Obergefell vs Hodges, he has stated in the past time and time again that he only supports marriage between a man and a woman. He has said:

“I’m not in favor of gay marriage. I don’t feel right about marriage equality.”

Trump has even gone as far as to compare same-sex relationships to choosing the wrong kind of golf putter! He said:

“It’s like in golf. A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.”

In trying to rationalize the irrational, it’s most likely that Trump is pandering to New Hampshire voters for the primary, 67% of whom support gay marriage.

Gay Marriage and Abortion are both states rights issues. Neither of them are mentioned in the Constitution. They are both up to the states to decide. But sadly the Supreme Court has decided to step in and unconstitutionally force both on all 57 states.

So don’t blame Trump folks blame the Supremes.

This is the most dishonest headline ever. Listen to the entire video, the interviewer is a lesbian and asks Trump what he would do to promote LGBT stuff. ALL he said was he will bring people together, what he always says when someone throws him a curve ball. He didn’t say he supported them or gay marriage or anything that I have seen on this post. Dig these articles for yourselves, don’t just trust the inflamatory headlines.

You seem to be deaf and blind. Trump has repeated over and over he will end Obamacare. He has spoken and it has been written of working with hospitals and doctors and I am sure that includes pharmaceutical companies to lower costs. He wants cross border insurance to open up competition and only states that the TRULY needy will be helped. IOW No GAMING the SYSTEM!IOW NO Socialized healthcare.

It's a deflection to the loaded question.

In other words, Trump gave a typical politician non-answer.

That's the second defense of Trump today basically saying "that's politics".

We seem to have moved on from "he's not a politician" to "he's a skillful politician" here in about a weeks' time.

Should it even be a question for a conservative?

NO

No you cannot look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians under my presidency.

Either a person is principled or not...

For Trump, it’s looking more and more like the answer is... or not.

CORRECTION TO MY PREVIOUS INACCURATE POST:

"When President Trump is in office can we look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians?"

Yes, you are correct. That was a PART, the first PART, of a statement/question posed to Trump and was the conclusion of a statement/question designed to force DT into one corner or another.

Someone is striking out on three pitches by putting this forward as either a pro-homosexual or anti-homosexual position by Trump.

Fail.

I thought to myself - this whole time youve been politically incorrect and blunt, saying the things everyone else is thinking but not saying because they are too PC, now you go all in PC shortly after you said you wouldnt.

You choose your battles carefully. It isn't wise to run around shooting a scatter gun at everything in sight. You only end up taking the focus off your agenda and on to some other group's agenda. Illegal immigration has to be stopped and the focus should be kept right there!

Uh, where have you been for the last five years? The homofascist movement is nothing but infringement on personal religious and social beliefs. Trump doesn't say anything about that. I saw the rally in AR and that question did come up and all he had to say was, "we're gonna say Merry Christmas."

People have to accept it, the Genie is out of the bottle. No matter who the president is he will have to deal with the diverse problems that have oozed up out of liberalism. Gays, illegal aliens, earth first morons and all of the Muslim huggers. The next president can’t shoot them. A conservative president will just have to logically keep everyone happy and under control. Defunding is a good way to start.

What are you saying we should do with Americans who don’t believe as you do? Trump is saying he wants to bring the country together, not keep it divided as it is now. He doesn’t ever say he is going to give groups what they want, only that he will gather us together. Sometimes tough love isn’t popular, but it’s needed. If he can bring everyone together as americans that is a good thing. Those who want to keep everyone divided is the problem no matter what side of the aisle you are on or which candidate it is. I’m tired of being divided. Radicals on both sides want us to hate, that benefits them and their power. We really can take back our country for everyone. Americans first no matter who it is!!

The “gay bill of rights” is, in some respects, much WORSE than marriage redefinition because it gives sodomites a destructive bludgeon to use against Christians, backed by the abusive power of the federal government. It is Fascism cubed.

What exactly did you mean by deflection then, if not avoiding answering the question?

No surprise. It was already there in his previous “traditionalist” statement. He compared the nation’s embrace of homosexual “marriage” to people changing putters. Which means he regards it as trivial. Something he doesn’t care for himself, but which isn’t really important.

Exactly, the SCOTUS didn’t Rule on Gay Marriage, they Ruled on eviscerating the Tenth Amendment.

Gay Marriage was just one aspect of that Ruling. They opened the doorway and sooner or later somebody is going to walk through it.

Let’s see, varied State limits on Age of Consent, Age of Consent to Marry, Polygamous Marriage and Incestuous Marriage will be tested and National Standards passed.

"...Donald Trump said that he will strengthen the rights of the LGBT community and bring people together..."

Why would this "Make Conservatives Go Crazy"? It is merely Trump being true to form and pandering to whatever crowd he is in front of. You can always count on his left-leaning "NYC-Values" being his *first* instinct when he knee-jerks. Those are the values he was raised with and it's what he knows best.

If an observer has been paying any attention at all, this would not be a surprise -- it would be *expected*.

I did not click on the article, but according to what was posted above, Trump merely seems to be saying he wants to "bring the country together". Does he say something more specific?

Let's look at the exchange again, shall we?

"When President Trump is in office, can we look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians?"

"Well, you can. "

Seems like a pretty straightforward question and answer to me.
