You tell me: Is it really that big a deal when the Obama Administration comes right out and admits what we all know anyway? That they really have no heart for the fight against ISIS and they’re not going to make a serious commitment to winning it?

Yes, well said. Since 9/11, America has had a moral duty to answer threats of terrorism with extreme prejudice. Not by means of proxy armies or proxy fighters that turn out to be terrorists themselves. Islamic terrorists organizations need to meet American bullets shot from American guns held by Americans.

Plus, you’d just rile up the Muslims not in that region (they exist in sizable numbers in places like Malaysia for example).

We’ve been the toadies for various Muslims (and the UN) all over for over 50 years now, doing their dirty work for them and paying them for the privilege.

The Sunnis are ready and willing to fight.
The Shias far outnumber the Sunni’s and should easily be able to come out on top ... except they tend to prefer to get other people to fight their battles for them.
In the end I think it will be Shias, but with Russian and/or Chinese help. They are too lazy or cowardly or something to do it on their own despite a very large numerical advantage.
Personally, I don’t see why any non-Muslim would want to fight battles for one sect of ISLAM or the other. But that’s just me.
Plus Palestinians are Sunnis (same as ISIS) and there are reports ISIS already has training camps there and in the Sinai.
I think ultimately Israel will have to go into the Sinai and kick butt ... yet again. Maybe Egypt will do it but they are a mess politically right now.

History disagrees with you though. The way you end a war is to kill everyone who wants to fight. When you kill enough of them, they decide that living is better than dying. Ask Japan if you don't think so. The way you prolong it is by doing what obammy is doing. For that matter, what W was doing too.
The population of the United States is estimated at 322,583,006 as of July 1 2014. United States' population is equivalent to 4.45% of the total world population.
With those kind of odds, we'd have to use nukes to gain the advantage ... but the problem is other countries have nukes as well (Pakistan for example). Plus other countries like Russia might see it as an opportunity to take us out to prevent mass annihilation on humanitarian grounds (whether that was their reason or not it would be a plausible excuse ... one we've used ourselves).

We need to take out their nuclear capability (or prevent them from getting it). Obama is certainly not doing that.

I thought Climate change was a world security issue? So ISIS is to handle that in Iraq?
It’s not about if I don’t like it, it’s that I don’t think the nuclear option would work. Remember, other countries have nukes too, including countries like Pakistan. And Russia who might see this as an opportunity to defend regions close to them from nuclear attack.
We can’t nuke everyone ... at least not before they can nuke us as well. It’s just not a very smart way to go about things. It would be a last, last, last resort, and even then we would probably have to take a nuclear hit ourselves.
