My close-by lake was dry until recently because of the 2011 drought. A warning was issued to be careful not to break an ankle tripping over all the guns and rifles that had been lost. We’ve had a lot of rain recently, so they’re all underwater again.

“When cops do a traffic stop do they have access to handgun permit data?”

Yes. That’s most likely how MD police detained that family from FL over the holidays.

Any one that is for forming a data base for all gun owners, deserve what they will get. There is nothing that this government will do to accomplish the forming of this data base. Once that happens, there is nothing to stop them from confiscating all those weapons. To protect the public, of course

Confiscate them how? All the world’s armies, paramilitary, gendarmes and police organizations, if somehow magically transported to this country, could not confiscate 1% of our weapons in a year and I hazard a guess that at least 1/3 of them would be dead at the end of that time.

***Oh, we’re not trying to establish some national registry of gun owners.***

This was first proposed back in 1962 by Thomas J Dodd and Emanuel Cellar.

1962 Thomas J Dodd and Emaual Cellar proposed the first federal law on handguns.

1962; “We don’t want to take away your guns, we ONLY want to register handguns! Rifles and shotguns will not be affected”.

1964: “We only want to register all your guns, not ban them! Only Army surplus guns will be banned.”

1968: “We only want to register your guns, and ban “Saturday Night Specials” and small foreign handguns along with army surplus rifles!” (They got the ban on 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles and handguns and small foreign pistols)

1970: “We only want to ban Saturday night specials! Large handguns and rifles will not be affected!”

1971: “According to the SCOTUS, Miller Decision, RIFLES are protected under the 2nd Amendment, handguns are not!”

1976: “We only want to ban all handguns! Long guns will not be affected!”

1981: “The NRA is a rifle organization! They should give up their handguns, and they can keep their rifles!”- Lee Grant on GMA

1984: “We must ban “assault Rifles, unsuitable or hunting!”

1989: George Bush bans import of some foreign made “assault rifles”.

1992: Assault rifle ban passed by Clinton.

2000: first calls to ban single shot .50 cal rifles...

2012 calls for MORE bans on semi auto rifles and handguns.

And so it continues.

In Kansas your concealed carry permit # is the same as your DL#.

But this year we passed Constitutional Carry so you dont need a permit to carry open or concealed, on your person, in your car,....

Yeah, they know.

Think lemonade. Fish love reefs. Let’s go fishing.

I recommend a 10 lb. magnet for bait. ;-)

I am on the data base for those that lost all their weapons in a tragic boating accident... a growing data base at that

Thing to do is get as many nails as you can and dump them. Friend up the road said this: if they come for his gun, he’ll bury them vertically in PVC pipe, all nicely done. Then further away spread a bunch of small finishing nails, cast them out like feeding chickens. Let them go after that ...

Have you bought a Hunting License lately? There ALREADY IS a database of legal gun owners. You CAN’T buy a Hunting License without a Social Security number any more!!! Not in ANY state!

if we have a Right to bears arms... why do we need to be registered?

couldn’t it be assumed ALL Americans are armed and work from there?

rail road scrap iron would be good too. Might be harder to distinguish from a firearm. If they start coming around to our yards with metal detectors though, they’re gonna have more to worry about that distinguishing between scarp iron and firearms. That’s go time right there.

Dad and my uncle would sometimes when we’re all sitting around a campfire in our back yard would tell a story or two. Couple of them were about how Mr. Charles (one of the terms they told me were used) would hide their weapons until the ARVN would leave then bring them out. So if like that were to happen here, same rules apply. Let them look all they want.

When cops do a traffic stop do they have access to handgun permit data?

I sure think they would, depending on the state, and computer access speed.

Calif could contact their DOJ to check if suspect had any guns in their system. Handguns by SN, long guns, and lately long guns by SN.

Don’t know if this has been implemented, but it could. I suspect it has.

In Ohio too. If you’re driving a car registered in your name and you possess a CCW the officer will be able to find that out before he ever leaves his car when he runs the plate. Advice from the course instructors drilled into us was hands at 10:00 and 2:00 and first thing out of your mouth is to tell him you have a CCW. The couple times I have been stopped (once for a brake light out and another time for expired tags on my wife’s car) the officer seemed to appreciate it and was friendly and professional. But giving them a list of what you own in your home? ... no freaking way.
