I’m a member of a religious minority, and as an Orthodox Christian, I find most positions expressed by liberals, leftists, progressives and the like, on social issues offensive. (And on some of them, e.g. “gay marriage” I think I’ll get support from one of the groups he lists, to wit Muslims.)

Does he really want to go there?

Muslims promote slavery of those who are not Muslim. If their policies are endorsed, then there must not be any public opposition to slavery so as not to offend Muslims.

Logic turned upside down. Free speech = hate.

I had this discussion with a black co-worker who had a cartoon on her desk saying your right to speech ends when the listener is offended. I tried to impress on her the suppression of her position but she wouldn’t budge.

OK Mr Yong, I declare that I don’t like your speech. Therefore you can’t say what you want anymore.
See how that swings both ways?

Well at least he said clearly what most liberals think.

Personally, I’d rather kick the whole bunch of easily-offended headchoppers out of the country.

If muslims can’t wrap their heads around the concept of free speech and individual rights, then that means that they picked the wrong country to immigrate to.

Maybe the muslims would feel more at home in the UK, europe, or the middle east, where people are too wimpy to recognize an invading army when they saw it.

If the muslims don’t like they way we do things here in the US, well that is just too damn bad.

Doesn’t this yong fool understands that moozlums are perpetually offended? That you exist and that you are not a craven moozlum is enough to offend them. Well...I am offended by any who become so readily offended. yong offends me with his confused, illogical blather.

A better author could have written a good response to what the student writer actually wrote. But this author was too lazy and so he had to insert a lie into his recap of the student's piece in order to stir moral outrage against a straw man.

Note the difference in the following two statements:

Saying she felt threatened by Charlie Hebdo and El Rhazoui, the student asked if she could condemn the attacks, but not say that she supports people’s right to free speech by saying, “I am Charlie.”

But here is the line from the student's article that that sentence was supposedly summarizing:

During the Q&A session on Thursday, a Muslim student Aseal Tineh claimed to feel threatened and asked whether she could condemn the Charlie Hebdo killings without saying “I am Charlie.”

Did you notice anything? The summary is actually longer than the original. Why would that be? Why not just quote the original if it's more concise?

The "Pundit Press" author is making exactly the same mistake that the students at the University of Chicago are making, getting confused between agreeing with people and supporting their right to free speech.

The Maroon? This isn’t a satire? Has no-one in Chicago heard of Bugs Bunny? As in “What a maroon!”?
