We’re not seeing many corporations hire here. They are laying off at this point. This is why we are seeing the retail sales completely falling. We have an unemployment rate of 5.8%, but prior years the unemployment rate was higher but we had better sales.
Somebody is manipulating the numbers… and we know who that ‘somebody’ is… it’s the U.S. government and central bankers.
In the real world, where people regularly eat food, we see inflation… and if we really calculate it out we see inflation is around 10%…when we subtract a realistic estimate of inflation, once we get even close to 10%, suddenly a negative 11% on Black Friday becomes negative 20%.
Black Friday shopping in the U.S. this year plummeted by 20% or more.
In the realm of economics a year-over-year change of this magnitude is not a plunge. It is a collapse.

Most mid to large corps institute hiring and budget freezes just after Halloween. This is to control costs ahead of the end-of-the year fiscal reports that are due in 1Q of the next year.
They also use this time to cull “dead wood” personnel from the payroll in order to maximize profits for the year.
Actually, you’ve hit on the problem - Washington under this Administration! Almost everything that come out these days is strictly Political - all forecasts, job numbers, unemployment, inflation, and almost everything else is suspect. You can’t believe a thing they say - a real shame! I really don’t think that it use to be this bad but today, it is horrible. To say that inflation is only 1.7% is such an obvious lie to normal Americans that it should be prosecuted! Seems that my expenses overall have gone up over 10% is not an exaggeration! Rent up 10%, food up 12%, gasoline (even with the recent drop) up 6%. They must be using items that nobody buys to get to their calculations!
Just how are businesses suppose to react to the news when even they believe it is false? They can look at the actual numbers - receivables and sales and know what is happening..
they have always planned for this because the cpi does not take into account food. so really, the current number is not a lie, but the economist who initially defined the cpi should be tarred and feathered (its so deceitful, I wonder if it was defined by jonathan gruber).
Check out meat prices and milk prices. When were they so high -— never.

If you look at the average pay per American it’s been dropping faster than population growth. Common sense tells you that the average income times the amount of Americans should give you the total output of the economy, the GNP. That yields a negative number. Try finding a reputable site that shows GNP is negative. I looked and could find nobody with any standing. (Shadow Statistics looks like they are just trying to sell subscriptions)
I meant to say the CHANGE in GNP is negative.

very telling numbers... labor participation rate among late teens has plummeted and continues to do so. Jobs that teens used to do (mowing lawns & yard work, fast food, grocery, etc.) are now reclassified as ‘jobs americans won’t do’ or are held by entrenched older Americans that do not have enough savings left to retire. Participation way down for younger Americans, way up for illegals and seniors, modestly down for everyone else. Projected that by 2022, the labor participation rate among males will be higher among the 70-74 age group than for the 16-19 age group... just 20 years ago, the rate among teens boys was over three times as high as 70-74 yr old men. wow.
Ha, and they wonder why the “folks” have lost confidence in government! Geez, if you have the leaders forcing lower agencies to comply with their demands - well, you get farce and boy do we have it here... The worst of it is that all these supposedly non political agencies run by non political folks are now political - how in the world did that happen? Did all of the Democrats come out of their cocoons just for this President? Can it ever be reversed?
The method for calculating inflation was recently changed.
