Now That The GOP Has Won, What Does It Stand For?
Radix News ^ | November 5, 2014 | Patrick J. Buchanan

After billions in attack ads that turned the approval ratings of almost every candidate, in both parties, upside down, Republicans have taken control of Congress.

Why did Democrats fall like dominoes?

Easy. Theirs is the Party of Government. And government is failing. And their leader Obama projects diffidence and incompetence.

National surveys also show that large majorities believe America is heading in the wrong direction, that our children will not have it as good as we did, and that the United States is in a long-term decline.

Measuring the performance of Obama against the promise, America is voting for another change in leadership and direction.

But where does she wish to go? And whom does she wish to lead her? The country voted against Obama, but voted for what?

The new majority leader is likely to be Mitch McConnell, who is about as popular as Harry Reid. The Republican Party that will take power is less well-regarded than the Democratic Party losing it.

Unfortunately the Republic lost these midterms when McConnell, Boehner and McCarthy won their elections. There will be some strutting and crowing but no actual change is likely. After all, obamacare is the “law of the land” and we just have to accept it and there will just be too much disruption if we change it much. Ditto the rest.

“Why did Democrats fall like dominoes? Easy........”

Rejection of fundamental change. It didn’t taste like chicken. What did it taste like!? I won’t be the one to say.

Or else what?

You already gave the liberal republicans your vote.

They will just do like Cornyn and quit answering their phones, and vote for their liberal agenda.

You have no power now. You gave them your vote.

LOL! What leverage do you have over them now that they have your vote? They are safe for 8 more years.

But...but, we *won*, right?

Wasn’t that the prevailing screed? “Hold your noses, because the OTHER guys are....worse”? It’s not Fascism when (R) do it, eh, comrade?

Party over principles and another shot into the foot....I’m hopeful, but not holding my breath (and might not even give a ‘told you so’ post :D)

We should get a pool going on how long The Gobbler and The Weeper will hold the power before ‘reaching across’ and ‘turning back’ what Reid had pushed through.

God forbid they give us MORE TSA, HSA, Patriot Act, etc. like the last time they took all 3....

"What does it stand for?"

That's the question.

The rhetoric has been jobs, smaller government, balanced budget, bringing immigration back under control, etc.

What concerns me the most is that for all the squawking about jobs, I've heard very little about how to achieve that.

If Republicans go after arbitrary cuts in Medicaid, food stamps, and other entitlements, without first growing the number of jobs available, they will be kicked out on their ear in two years.

If they close the border, raise import tariffs, bring American manufacturing back, put people back to work, government will shrink automatically.

The newly elected Republican Senate members need to send Obama a message that they will support impeachment if Obama tries to put Amnesty in through Executive Order in violation of existing laws.

Listening to Rove on FoxNews last night crowing about His wins and campaigning successes, especially not having “gaffes,” made me sick.

For some reason, Ted Cruz makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck, no logic, just intuition, however I do love the Tea Party reduction of government (not defense) so let’s say Mitch and Boehner stay in control, but don’t do anything to stop the open immigration plan of the executive pen?

Those who won, were they all Rovers? Found an interesting article...

What does the establishment elite GOPee stand for? Why they're Donkey Party-lite for big government, more bureaucracy, more regulation, crony capitalism, and high taxes — except they're not as honest about screwing taxpayers as Donkeys.

What they don't want to do is stand for anything and they are essentially rudderless when buffeted by the media. They will throw any Republican under the bus to save their precious political hides. They listen to frauds like Karl Rove for inspiration. They'd rather “reach across the aisle” to Donkeys to sell out their constituents and America. They are despicable cowards and opportunists.

McConnell and Boehner must go it is as simple as that, they are the problem, the momentum is one our side, start the dispatch procedures now, show them that despite their efforts to destroy the Tea Party it is stronger than ever.

The GOP stands for more big government, more cony capitalism, and more “boots on the ground.” It’ll be like the Dmocrats never left.

We have seen a wildly swinging political pendulum for the last 20 years. The reasons, as I see them, are:

1. America IS in decline,

2. The American people know it and and are angry about it, but

3. The American people either do not know what they want, or are very divided about what they want

4. Too many Americans want the free pixie dust powered skittle-crapping unicorns flying over rainbows. Oh, did I mention that they expect this for free?

5. Most of the rest of the American electorate realizes that you can’t have free unicorns, but they do not have the political will to make the hard choices and sacrifices necessary.

6. American politicians at the highest levels of government are selected on the basis of politics (getting into office) rather than on policy (what you do when you are there), so

7. Politicians will not make the hard choices if they fear it will cost them their office

8. So a lot of people who need to be told “no”, who aren’t accustomed to hearing it, still won’t hear it.

9. And so the decline continues, the people get angry and dissatisfied, switching between the two political parties, but

10. Neither one offers a real solution to the problem of decline, and it goes on, and the American people lose faith in their country.

Short of a real national catstrophe I don’t see anything to break this institutional dissonance.

All you can do is attack me, because you know you don't have any leverage over the liberal republicans that you just re-elected.

Wait until they pass Amnesty, and you get to deal with the "Told you so". LOL!

I am very interested in just what leverage over the squishy republicans that we elected. Now they are comfortably in office just how much can we steer their line of thinking?

Well there are a lot of Republican Senators whose necks are on the line in 2016, and they’d be better deliver or else we’ll be right back to Square One.
