IT seems too obvious to say, but the problem of campus sexual assault, so prevalent in the news this week, could be largely prevented without the intervention of the federal government or the police or campus sexual assault investigators and advisors and lawyers. The obvious solution is the elephant in the room that no one acknowledges.
Here we have a crisis and I do believe it is a serious problem that could be solved very simply, but wont be because there are too many financial interests at stake in keeping campus sexual mayhem going, too many ideologues with fantasies to fulfill and too many education consumers (and thats what they are, not students or young people in need of wisdom and formation) who believe in the inherent good of sexual liberation to care much about its more obvious victims.
If men and women were segregated in campus housing; if this segregation was strictly enforced, as it once was; and if any man caught in a womans room, or vice versa, was immediately expelled, there would be little chance of campus rape or political controversies about campus rape. If drunkenness affected a students GPA permanently, there would be less of it too. But these kinds of restrictions would change the college experience and the realities of high ed consumerism. They actually would probably lead to the closure of many institutions.
Most cases of reported sexual assault involve drunkenness and occur in college dormitories. Theres no dispute about that. Colleges are offering sexual opportunity as part of the package. Theres lots of money for fitness centers and tech labs and study abroad programs, and virtually nothing for chaperones, rules and discipline. At colleges, women were once prohibited from dressing in a provocative way, let alone having men in their rooms. The truth is, if it werent for sex, those tuition fees would come under greater scrutiny. Students wouldnt put up with the preschool-to-graduate school grind. The whole education thing would be done more efficiently and quickly.
Sexual mayhem is profitable for government and universities. The intention behind Obama-style government oversight is to regulate it and manage it, not to prevent it.
One of the unfortunate things about this mayhem, as Allan Bloom wrote in The Closing of the American Mind, is that, in addition to leading to impersonal, drunken encounters, it destroys the sense of romance and possibility that is the beautiful complement to learning.

A big problem is the easy pairing of sex and drinking.
Most of the colleges on the “Most Sober” list also have single-sex dorms.
Coincidence?

Wow, that’s really cynical.
I doubt that having girls get pregnant and drop out of college is good for the financial bottom line. They probably lose some guys to that too when they drop out to support the baby.
And the colleges are exposed to lawsuits as a result of this kind of behavior as well.
It’s not that colleges have a financial incentive to allow licentiousness. It’s more likely that colleges want their institutions to be perceived as safe places. So they don’t report and don’t prosecute as they should.
And in some cases you have college administrators whose morals are deficient and who do not understand their responsibilities.
Separate dorms and curfews worked pretty well when I was in school. The boys didn’t care for it but it took a lot of pressure off the girls. The present system is just nuts.
This is another manufactured “crisis.” Libs fight for years to desegregate dorms — some even allow mixed-sex roommates — and then stand aghast when hormone-driven young people do what hormone-driven young people have been doing for centuries.
Rather than taking the blame for this naive experiment in human sexuality, the libs then insist that campus rape is a “war against women,” is all men’s fault, and demands a draconian, expensive, and liberty-robbing “solution.” Oppose it and you’re a champion of rapists and sexual deviants.
See how our enemies frame things?
Welcome to the world of the liberalization of colleges. It took them over 50 years to destroy the academia by getting rid of the standards that were the firewalls of having students being segregated now they are blaming everyone but themselves. Typical libtard blame game.
Its part of training them to be good little leftist zealots.
It’s all about getting everyone to feel like a victim even if they’re not a victim.
This is sort of what they’ve done with the “human trafficking” thing. They’ve pretty much made all hookers victims of human trafficking.
Every year before the Super Bowl the media talks about “human trafficking” for the big event. They make up numbers like 30,000+ young women are being brought in for the big week. This does a few things .... (1) makes men look like jerks. (2) makes a lot of money for the leftist group that creates such BS .... even a lot of tax dollars go to them.
So much of it is LIES. Who would really support “human trafficking” of young girls? I certainly couldn’t. Who could support sexual abuse of young college students? I certainly couldn’t. No one with a sense of morals would. It’s just that they distort the truth of the situation for their own jobs and political gain. I believe some of the leaders of such groups also have distorted minds and actually believe some of the BS.
Think about it .... 30,000+ hookers going to NYC for the Super Bowl. They repeat the lie over and over. How many people will be attending the Super Bowl? Are 1/2 the men you know buying hookers? NYC has a lot of hookers already. 30,000 more just to keep up the 30,000 - 50,000 more men in town for the Super Bowl? Many of them traveling with their wives. It’s all distorted lies.

Sexual liberation has been used to distract the young as the nation is destroyed and they are enslaved
You may just live in a protected world and not seeing the women. They are out there. A high percentage are illegals but there are girls picked up, runaways and such.
I personally saw plenty of white girls working in bars in Asia. They were mostly focused on the wealthy asian men but would talk. Any hint of you trying to help them would scare them to death and they would run.
Have you been to vegas?
Have you been to vegas?
Several times. Fortunately, I haven’t been in years.
No doubt it happens but I don’t believe most hookers are victims of human trafficking.
My point is that the left has a way of grabbing numbers out of the sky to support their position. They do it with human trafficking numbers.
Our society having long ago abandoned the idea that fornication is blameworthy, I’m not sure this genie can be put back in the bottle.
However, the real root of the “campus rape crisis” is the left having redefined “rape” in such a way that when a young woman takes a bit of “Dutch courage” before “offering her virtue” (as we used to say) to a young man, should she later regret the encounter, she can claim she was raped because being a bit tipsy, made her incapable of actually consenting.
This is exactly the wrong principle: if someone becomes willfully intoxicated, that person should be responsible for actions taken while intoxicated, even including consenting to have sex.
Ding ding ding, a winner.
when i went, some dorms were all male or all female, and some had alternating floors of all men/all women. most ra’s did their best to enforce no sleepovers of alternate sexes as it would come back on them too.
that said you could still have people get around it. you could have a gal give you a key and sneak in without checking in, or you could check in with a guy friend and then make your way to someone else later.

Bingo!
Thanks for posting this.

Your espoused principle is exactly the problem. There is a small percentage (<5%) of career rapists whose MO is to spot the inexperienced freshman girl, ply them with drinks or spike their drinks and then isolate and rape them.
The attitude that the victim is responsible is why the other 95% of the guys in the room look away and ignore what is happening right in front of them.
No, the problem is buying the left’s claim that the dynamic is as you propose. I went to college in the late 1970’s, and the young woman resorting to “Dutch courage” as I put it, and, boasting, yes, boasting, about waking up in some guy’s bed at breakfast the next morning was a common phenomenon. All those encounters have been redefined as “rapes” creating a non-existent “epidemic” for which the “solution” is the abolition of expectations of self-control on the part of women, the expectation that men can judge to a nicety whether the woman saying “yes” is at all tipsy, and the abrogation of standards of jurisprudence from the right to confront one’s accuser to the presumption of innocence.
