During an appearance on Newsmax TV's Steven Malzberg Show, Dr. Ben Carson indicated that he is giving serious consideration to a 2016 Presidential bid, hinting that it is "a step closer." In his interview with Malzberg, he touched on a number of hot button topics including the border crisis, the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians as well as the current political debate in the nation.
"I have to consider what's going on, and I have to consider the enormous crowds that I encounter every place I go, and the level of enthusiasm, and what I'm hearing,'' Carson told Malzberg, adding that a GOP takeover of the Senate in the 2014 midterm elections could "absolutely" strengthen that possibility.
Dr. Benjamin "Ben" Carson is considered a favorite among the conservative "Tea Party" wing of the Republican Party, scoring high against GOP rivals in numerous straw polls for this groups choice of Presidential candidates for 2016. Among Tea Party activists, he and Texas Senator Red Cruz regularly battle one another for the top spot. While many political observes consider a Carson White House bid to be a long shot, given his lack of political experience, his impeccable credentials and record could make him a compelling candidate and with the rising tide of anti-DC establishment sentiment that is sweeping the nation, he may be very formidable in the 2016 Republican primaries.
Dr. Ben Carson was named director of pediatric neurosurgery at John Hopkins hospital at age 33, making him the youngest division director in the history of the famed hospital. He gained national recognition in 1987 when he and his team successfully separated conjoined Binder twins in a 22 hour surgery. In his book Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, he alluded to the breakthrough that enabled the successful separation of the Binder's, overcoming problems that rendered previous separation attempts unsuccessful.
"They would always exsanguinate. They would bleed to death, and I said, Theres got to be a way around that.... I was talking to a friend of mine, who was a cardiothoracic surgeon, who was the chief of the division, and I said, You guys operate on the heart in babies, how do you keep them from exsanguinating? and he says, Well, we put them in hypothermic arrest. I said, Is there any reason thatif we were doing a set of Siamese twins that were joined at the headthat we couldnt put them into hypothermic arrest, at the appropriate time, when were likely to lose a lot of blood? and he said, No way. ... Two months later, along came these doctors from Germany, presenting this case of Siamese twins. And, I was asked for my opinion, and I then began to explain the techniques that should be used, and how we would incorporate hypothermic arrest... And, my colleagues and I, a few of us went over to Germany. We looked at the twins. We actually put in scalp expanders, and five months later we brought them over and did the operation, and lo and behold, it worked!" Gifted Hands was ultimately turned into a television movie, starring Cuba Gooding Jr. in the role of Carson.
In 2008 George W Bush awarded Carson the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. It was at this point his political activism began to increase in its scope and focus. In another of his books, America the Beautiful, Carson touched on his decision to become politically active, I believe it is a very good idea for physicians, scientists, engineers, and others trained to make decisions based on facts and empirical data to get involved in the political arena and help guide our country," adding, "we [physicians] should be concerned not only about the health of individual patients, but also about the health of our entire society.
His 2013 comments during the National Prayer Breakfast catapulted him into national prominence and his has become an oft-desired guest on national radio and television shows and a keynote speaker at numerous conservative events. While his lack of experience in electoral politics will certainly be an obstacle to overcome, Carson is without doubt a force to be reckoned with and will present a stiff challenge to any Republican in the field. Dr. Ben Carson's hints of a potential 2016 Presidential bid have been met with much enthusiasm from the conservative base of the GOP, and leaves us to ponder as to whether it will take a talented and gifted man, outside of the world of politics, to save a nation that has been pummeled by the negative consequences of party politics.

Get back to me when the GOP stops nominating & electing "conservatives" like Boehner, Dole, McCain, Romney, GWB, etc.
Anyone who disagrees with you HAS to be a troll or a liberal-progressive plant, Anyone who disagrees with you is not as good an American as you are.
I said no such thing. Project much?
Grow up. Get in the game.
I hope you enjoy Mitt Romney 2.0 (or would that be 3.0? 4.0?)
He gets my vote.
Which are nothing compared to what the other Republicans running for the nomnation will do to him.
The GOPe will run 6 conservatives and one establishment guy like they usually do.
Dr. Carson has better explained his 2A views in more recent times:
I do believe that it is necessary for people to begin to have rational discussions about things what kinds of weapons, said Carson. You know, I dont think tanks, for instance, would be a very good thing to be keeping in your garage. But you certainly should have access to any kind of weapon that you want for recreational purposes or to protect yourself. There really shouldnt be a lot of restrictions on that.
Carson is on record as a gun grabber who is confused about what “shall not be infringed” means. I don’t trust an after the fact “clarification” from this gun grabber. He needs to go away:
“But when asked whether people should be allowed to own semi-automatic weapons, the doctor replied: It depends on where you live.
I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and Im afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it, Carson elaborated.”
I'm thinking Allen West. I love Ted Cruz, but he should be Senate Majority leader.
And that is why he is a non-starter in my book.NEXT!
Spare me another fake conservative who has the right color in today’s modern world.
Carson struck out on way too many things for me long ago. His weak 2nd Amendment stance is just the tip.
“Is Carson a Gynecologist?”
Always difficult for a gynecologist with a mustache to convince the voters for whatever reason. Trust maybe?
Thankfully he’s not, he’s a neurosurgeon I think.
He’s a worthless gun grabber. Palin, Cruz, or LOSE.
I understand your view, but I trust him.
I like the guy as a senator, congressman or sugeon general but not for President.
Unfortunately, America is neither ready or able to elect Mr. Carson...he is too black, or non-black, too conservative, too honest, too religious...the list goes on and on...the time for America to elect someone of his caliber are gone...shame on you America.
