Thinking about moving SOuth - anyone who can provide suggestions?

Posted on 10/15/2013 9:47:23 PM PDT by freedom462

So I am thinking of simply leaving the job I work at now and heading to a Southern state, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Northern Florida, Tennessee, etc since I figure that, since I am one of those who does not have a reliable source of family aid of any kind, that this could be my only option.

I am considering finding a church that has a sort of communal living situation, a farm, ranch, factory or other such source that could use additional workers and join one of them. I am thinking of it in light of a situation where there is such severe disaster than there are no jobs in the schools, restaurants - presuming they'd be out of business since noone could eat out anymore, malls, universities, hospitals, not to mention no engineering jobs of any kind either, unless they required another degree (which in theory I would not get since all the schools would no longer have any money).

So I am thinking of places such as what I listed above as places to start a new life in preparation for the possibility that all other work options are simply gone because the crisis got so severe and as a way to ensure I can have a community I can survive with, since my only other option would be to try and survive as a homeless person at this point.

Does anyone on FR have a sort of church based or other type of communal living situation, a farm, ranch or non federal park that is looking for new members and/or can suggest ways I can find that type of place to work so that I have survival chance? I figure that most likely, noone would be able to help that much but knowing what I do about FR, I figured might as well ask just for the heck of it if nothing else since my options otherwise are highly limited.

With your education background, you can teach at a university in the Asia-Pacific region. Some universities focus on English so they want all classes taught in the English language. Along with a decent salary, many schools offer free housing as an added benefit.

I did a quick Google search. Here’s a random link I picked:

http://www.asiateachingjobs.com/

You should stop thinking about “survival skills.” Every time you log on to Alex Jones Website, you find his code word “survival” everywhere, which is nothing more than a shameful bid to entice his listeners to buy products he’s selling as he claims the apocalypse is near.

But when it comes to knowing when the world will come to an end, the Bible said, “it will come like a thief in the night.” In other words, it will happen when you least expect it.

Perhaps, you struggle with depression. No big deal, I got that too. Here’s what I do to overcome it. I wake up every morning for work and tell myself to act normal even if you don’t feel normal. So put on your normal mask and go to work.

Being a productive member of society is a good way to feel much better about yourself.

Have you considered medication and intense therapy? Just asking.

Yes, I have considered it. Medication in the past has had only limited at best results.

OMG!

Lucky you weren’t hit with any dynamite shrapnel.

Do you now participate in the revelry by throwing your own dynamite?

I guess that is one way to cull the population. lol

You may have a point about culling the population. I don’t know how many times I saw little children throwing sticks of dynamite in the air. The parents teach them. Maybe it’s like an initiation rite. When you turn 5-years-old it’s time for you to light your own dynamite. Don’t ask your mommy to do it for you. Meanwhile, most of the firecracker deaths and injuries are children too.

>> Texas sucks. Its not only the place its the people and culture

Thanks so much for telling it like you see it!

PLEASE continue to spread this fiction among ALL of your like-minded whiny victimized-class liberal friends. We don’t want them coming here and screwing it up.

And have a nice day!

One thing to add - I do not quite understand how you are so sure that Obama is not looking to ultimately start going after the citizens now and using this as a golden opportunity to go in for the kill as far as dismantling the fabric of America and trying to cause as much of a collapse, economically, politically and socially, as he can. That is what he could do starting with forcing a maximum default. How exactly are you so sure he does not intend to do that?

I’m a Texan too, but we should not describe the state as the “land of milk and honey.” Texas does have a few problems. It’s very hot in the summer. Much of the state is flat and tree-less. Go for a scenic drive and you’ll be seeing cows for miles and miles.

You will also run into many Texans who will sweet talk to your face and the moment you turn your back they pull out their long knives.

And yes, when you’re no longer welcomed, they start saying you don’t belong in Texas, you ain’t a Texan even you were born there and they’ll keep pestering you to leave.

We Texans must be more aware of our strengths and weknesses so that we know how to deal with non-Texans who actually want to live in the Lone Star state.

It’s been my experience that Texans are friendlier when they are outside of Texas. That’s because they become outsiders and learn to deal with it. I do admire our trait to boast. Nobody does it better than a Texan. and if somebody mocks us for it, we love to say, “it ain’t boasting if it’s true.”

I like Texas.

I live in middle TN....feels like Ohio now.....where I live southern accents are rare

We have been in undated

I was just in Dallas....a top 5 megaplex population center yet very hospitable and southern accents common....even in the Park Cities

Deep South very nice folks but huge black pops which hurts the city demos

Panhandle coast is good

Most folks move south they go to Texas or Nashville or Atlanta....black capital of USA....or Piedmont NC

many are libs....insufferable.....but not all

Some embrace us.....

Truly overall......Texas ...

Hey! I live in Tennessee, west of the Tennessee River. Don’t talk poorly of this great area. There is Memphis, replete with race-baiters, low lifes, white flight and chronic unemployment. The nearby communities are also - - - well, on second thought, I wouldn’t recommend the area to anyone either. MY dream is to move to East Tennessee, too.

Ben & Jerry’s farm in VT might give you a job tending the cows for their ice cream. They’d probably have a situation for you. If TSHTF you’ll be on a farm.

You want to join a commune? Posting here?

I don't think Manson or Koresh are accepting applicants today. Good luck in your search. DU may be a better source.

Google “american redoubt” it’s an area in Idaho/Wyoming/Montana where
conservatives are moving to reestablish themselves.
May not be for you, but who knows?
I think I was reading about it here on FR the other day.
Good luck.
