I don’t like where this is going.
Are we headed for a violent takeover?

Still stockpiling the 1.6 billion bullets, due to the contracts being five years in length.
So, why does DHS need these light tanks? And do they even have the staff for all of this equipment and ammunition?

Oh, and thanks, Obama voters, for four more years of this scary crap.

These things are good in a city / urban environment where if the shxt hits the fan is the last place I’d ever be anyway and they are good on a well kept hard packed smooth surface.
At 19 - 23 tons, small dirt roads with ruts, small wooden bridges or any muddy dirt road and they’re useless. Basically anywhere your standard 4-wheel drive can go these can’t.. which is where I’ll be.

The local gun show is a little short of RPGs. The militarization of domestic forces, including police, has gone way too far already and seems to be accelerating. An oppressive government will ultimately use these weapons against any citizenry that finally awakens against the threat.

In the right hands, 2,700 of these sturdy SUV’s could make a border enforcement much easier...in the right hands.

I wonder how well those MRAPs work when covered with a couple hundred gallons of gasoline.

They are getting ready to put down an insurrection.
And they don’t know if it will come from the right or left (they really don’t).

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these Mine Resistant Protected vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.Retrofitted. Basically, in reading the comments at the various websites, some posters are saying these are leftover vehicles from Iraq and Afghanistan and are being upgraded so they don't rot.
These are NOT new purchases as implied by the headline. Which calls into question some of the other claims. I would take this reporting with a grain of salt. Let's get some more facts before leaping to conclusions.

- 2.2 billion rounds of ammo
- demands for confiscation of citizen owned guns and rifles
- vets being warned via the VA of arrest if they possess a weapon
- numerous high caliber personnel have met 'untimely ends' within the last year
- vets being dubbed 'dangerous' and a 'terrorist risk' and not allowed to fly/passport revoke
and now they've ordered up 2700+ light armored tanks??
wtf!
you should be on the horn to your congress-critter immediately (what little good it'll do... but for now, it's the only recourse we have)

Those thing are not going over seas Jack.
They aren’t going to be used on Illegal immigrants.
They are expensive when times are hard.
There are two thing that might happen here. They will sit around and rust or thay will be used against citizens of these United States.

What I don’t get is that the DHS does not have a branch called “Homeland Security”. They have the TSA, US Secret Service, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, US Coast Guard, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, and US Customs and Border Patrol. Who do the characters driving these things actually work for? Looks like barry’s private army is getting equipped to seal the takeover.
