Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile
Gateway Pundit ^ | March 3, 2013 | Jim Hoft

This is getting a little creepy.

According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.

DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

Modern Survival Blog reported:

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization...

Go to the link, it says Police/Rescue on the side of the vehicle.

Watch the video, the guy is talking about serving warrants and entering houses.

Still stockpiling the 1.6 billion bullets, due to the contracts being five years in length.

So, why does DHS need these light tanks? And do they even have the staff for all of this equipment and ammunition?

These things are good in a city / urban environment where if the shxt hits the fan is the last place I’d ever be anyway and they are good on a well kept hard packed smooth surface.

At 19 - 23 tons, small dirt roads with ruts, small wooden bridges or any muddy dirt road and they’re useless. Basically anywhere your standard 4-wheel drive can go these can’t.. which is where I’ll be.

When it's more obvious that they lost the public's trust, they're going to need those weapon system to use against us, when they refuse to leave.

The United States Citizens KNOW that they're going to have to fight TYRANTS in their own government.
You cannot protect life, without the ability to take life.

While you are WAITING for the police to respond, someone could be losing their life.
All people of a responsible age should be armed.

As EternalVigilance reminded us:

Click here to read the 12 page pamphlet.

Let us NEVER FORGET THAT !

Let's subjugate them to OUR end game, DUST!
"COMPROMISE" is a DIRTY word!
People who study the Bible know that COMPROMISE almost always leads to destruction.

It's time to mock the "Gun Control" Zombies!
"Gun Control" is a firm grip, steady breathing, accurate aim (developed by lots of practice), and a slow trigger pull.

The Swiss have got it CORRECT !
We need to learn from the Swiss and implement their "gun control measures" here in the United States right now, today!
These laws are the ones we should shove into the "2nd Amendment Haters" faces.

The Swiss have got it CORRECT !
Let's adopt THEIR LAWS !

Remember: Read Second Amendment: It’s Not About Hunting, IT'S ABOUT TYRANNY .

These were designed, as I understand it, to ward off mines and IEDs put together by third world irregulars. Do Mr. Obama and his minions not understand that the force arrayed against them in a hypothetical revolution/rebellion/civil war/insurgency within our borders will have a technological base at least 5-10 times better than any country we've ever fought in? And that a goodly portion of the military will take their Bradley IFVs, M-2 .50 cal. MGs, F-16s, Abrahms MBTs, Cobra helicopters, TOWs and artillery with them when they leave?

The local gun show is a little short of RPGs. The militarization of domestic forces, including police, has gone way too far already and seems to be accelerating. An oppressive government will ultimately use these weapons against any citizenry that finally awakens against the threat.

That's correct. MRAPs aren't difficult to destroy, but they do an outstanding job of protecting the occupants inside.

Retrofitted. Basically, in reading the comments at the various websites, some posters are saying these are leftover vehicles from Iraq and Afghanistan and are being upgraded so they don't rot.

These are NOT new purchases as implied by the headline. Which calls into question some of the other claims. I would take this reporting with a grain of salt. Let's get some more facts before leaping to conclusions.

Those wheels on MRAPs are split rims with run-flat inserts like the original HUMMV. They’re difficult to change out even in a well equipped maintenance shop. The extra four tires indicate that size isn’t in the supply system or the vehicle will be operating well outside the maintenance support network. Come to think of it, Homeland Security will have to rely on Army Reserve or National Guard maintenance sites if MRAPs are to be used for domestic civil suppresion & control.

Here in the continental U.S. the MRAP would operate as an armored personnel carrier. The simple fact that it is not a tracked vehicle limits its off-road capability, so its owners are counting on its menacing appearance to cow the populace. However, a military eye will sense its weaknesses rather than its strengths, and there are plenty of us veterans who as yet possess that tactical instinct.

If I were to see Homeland Security armored vehicles in my town, I would take it as a sign of worry, not arrogance, on the part of government authorities. As a former tanker, I learned long ago to evaluate any military vehicle for its target potential.
