Last Sunday, Krystal Lake, a 22-year-old Home Depot employee on Staten Island, was photographed wearing a hat that says, America Was Never Great.
It's in the same font and style of Trump's campaign slogan of "Make America Great Again."
Of course, death threats and hate mail targeting her have come pouring in which, if you think about it, lends itself to her feeling like she was right to wear the hat in the first place.
About two months ago, I wrote a column about the word "again" in Trump's slogan. I think it's a racist dog whistle and it gets to the heart of the point of the hat Krystal Lake was wearing....

I do remember one thing.
It took hours and hours but..
by the time I was done with it,
I was so involved, I didn’t know what to think.
I carried it around with me for days and days..
playing little games
like not looking at it for a whole day
and then.......
looking at it.
to see if I still liked it.
I did.
The fact is..
No matter how closely I study it,
No matter how I take it apart,
No matter how I break it down,
It remains consistent.
I wish you were here to see it.
I like it !!!!
Indiscipline.

Wait until after the election. Hilary’s campaign will probably have that hat on clearance on their website.
Buy two there Shaun. Give one to Vicente Fox when you get there with your one way ticket.
It doesn’t say”ex-Home Depot” employee. She was working at the time so should be “ex” and her manager too. I don’t want politics of any kind where I shop (except a “guns welcome” sign if you call that political). Glad there’s a Lowes near me.
Of course you do. That's because you think the theme song from "Sesame Street" is a racist dog whistle. You think your ringtone is a racist dog whistle. You think the neighbor next door whistling for his dog is a racist dog whistle.
Why? Because
1) You are a racist and projecting your prejudices on others;
2) There is no such thing as a "racist dog whistle," so you're free to invent one any time you need a convenient straw man to attack;
3) You're too ignorant and cowardly to deal with reality and to accept that an America you are not a part of WAS in fact great, and can be again.
Legend is that Sam Hill was a man known for extrordinary cursing skills and that invoking his name was a way to hint at what level of language you think would be appropriate.
I don’t think anyone takes this guy seriously anymore after the “I really really am a black guy” scam..
Second,Shaun King doesn't understand white people don't spend a lot of time thinking about black people. Not much more than Shaun King spends a lot of time thinking about the problems of Mexicans who are recent citizens... or American Indians or any other struggling new ethnic group.
And third most of us feel Trump is talking about a United States past when we were a first rate industrial power - with money in the bank, no debt, and the world looking up to us.
It absurd to think Trump was referring to a time when blacks couldn't get a cheap meal in a Greyhound Bus station cafeteria. I doubt Trump's ever ridden in a Greyhound Bus... But if King wants the joy of the pity party who are we to stand in his way? Idiot.
Yeah, he needs to get one and park it right on his noggin.
Then he can feel all SJW’ish and really cool.
Yeah.
And the one person that will actually benefit from his SJW’ish and really cool hat...
is the guy that made a couple of bucks making and selling him his SJW’ish and really cool hat.

I see a lot of young girls with nose rings. Don’t they realize that ring makes then look like somebody’s Livestock ready to be led by the nose? Maybe young guys of today consider that sexy. I don’t like any waitress for my table wearing nose rings. Looks nasty.
Wonderful, so you have dragged the whole discourse down to your level. Congratulations.
Otherwise, on one hand I agree that America has never been great since parents, particularly immigrant parents, evidently never made sure that their children were taught about the federal governments constitutional limited powers.
On the other hand, with one reservation, Ill argue that America was great between the ratification of the 13th and 15th Amendments, and the ratification of the 16th and 17th Amendments, things really going downhill after FDR inspired low-information Congress to steal 10th Amendment-protected state powers and associated state revenues to establish unconstitutional federal social spending programs like Social Security, and later unconstitutional Obamacare.
My reservation about immigrants and the 15th Amendment is this. It is bad enough that citizens werent being taught the federal governments constitutionally limited powers without adding likewise low-information immigrant citizens and freedmen to the ranks of low-information voters.
Low-information voters ultimately helped the unconstitutionally big federal government to grow imo, corrupt politicians getting elected by promising such voters social spending programs that voters didnt understand that the feds had no constitutional authority to establish.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. ... United States v. Butler, 1936.
Corrections, insights welcome.
Hey lee I was in Wyoming a few weeks ago. The young waitress had half hair of pink, a neon pink tongue ring, other piercings and tatts. Instantly my mind perceived her as ‘skank’. Although she was fairly nice to me as a customer. Give me the women who looked and dressed nice back in the WW2 generation era.
I wonder of Shaun realizes that back in the good old days blacks didn’t take great delight in killing each other.
It WAS a better country.
.
Well what in the Sam Hill is going ong on?
Then why doesn’t he just fn leave?
Every family with a soldier who died just recently needs to kick these peoples butts. Hard.
I’m just talking from Vietnam on.
Then go back in history. Ug. Makes my blood boil!
I think it’s an innocuous way of expressing disgust without cussing.
