Ryan is a good man, but does not redeem the abortionist/homosexualist statist Romney
Aug 11, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/11/2012 4:42:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.

But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.

And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.

And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.

That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.

Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.

Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.

I love this country and I have always felt welcome here, but the last few days have disappointed me greatly.

I have received very hateful mail from some here, but I believe in the end, most here are good and decent people who do not judge, lest they be, and who realize that NO religion has all the right answers and that the true message of the Christ was that “love your neighbor as you do yourself”.

I love my wife. But if I said that while maligning her and pointing out my perception of her faults, she would logically question whether or not I loved her at all.

These people who feign “love” for Mormons and others they don’t agree with while calling them “occult” and “brainwashed” don’t love their neighbors at all. They are only using a bully pulpit to make themselves appear “more holy” or more significant than they actually are.

What was Dan Quayle's signature VP accomplishment? How about Dick Cheney? You remember Al Gore, but off the top of your head, do you remember a thing he accomplished as VP?

Paul Ryan is a fine man. He made a mistake with his support of the bailouts, but he swallowed his pride and talked it back. I respect him for that. And had he run at the top of the ticket, I (especially as a Wisconsinite) could have supported him.

But in Romney's shadow he serves one purpose and one purpose only, to draw in the support of the conservative base. Once he has served that purpose, he will be removed from the spotlight and his days will be spent cheerleading for Romney in foreign lands.

It's a tremendous honor to have been chosen to run as VP. I don't begrudge him one bit for heading the call. And I give Romney's people a fair amount of credit for swallowing the pill and selecting him of the other choices. Clearly he is the most suited to move the grass roots.

But to perfectly honest, we truly need Paul Ryan to remain in the House (preferably as the Speaker) and continue to press for change where we need it most. His voice is wasted attending parades and funerals around the world. Pulling him out of such a leadership position for that, is a mistake.

And your argument about passing by Joseph Smith first is completely illogical and frankly irrelevent, you are so busy judging others. So you (and I) understand he's in for a shock at the free pass -- no Smith -- when he arrives directly in front of our Lord for judgement. Good for him! He's acknowledged Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He has lived as loving and moral a life as you or I, he has given back to God at every opportunity, and he has been led through some hoops to the same outcome by a false prophet. It's Smith I'd worry about if I were you, in such a position to judge as you find yourself

Sounds like you've already "judged" Mitt Romney 100% spiritually fit...(if only the Mormons would treat Christians that way and stop ringing their doorbells)

I thought you said we shouldn't "judge" others? Yet you're "judging" Mitt Romney (positively)

And what other groups are you telling Christians to bring their missionaries home from evangelizing -- besides Mormons, that is? (What other religious are "spiritually fit," too? I mean, most of the cults reference a "Jesus Christ" in some way or another...so any ole reference to "Jesus" is fine...and if people start to describe "DRey" -- let's say you're real name -- online...and, hey, if that description is way off base, who cares?)

So, are you telling Christians everywhere not to witness to Jehovah's Witnesses as well as Mormons? (Since they also "acknowledge" Jesus Christ in some way)

A different Jesus

So...you're telling us, DRey, that when we see the following citations from Mormon leaders, we just are to assume they're talking about the "same" Jesus?

“Modern revelation speaks of our Lord as he that ‘ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth‘ (D&C 88:6). Christ's rise to the throne of exaltation was preceded by his descent below all things. Only by submitting to the powers of demons and death and hell could he, in the resurrection, serve as our exemplar of a saved being... (McConkie and Millet, Doctrinal Commentary on the Book of Mormon, vol. 1, p. 234)

Please also see...
* McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, Vol. 3, p. 238 where he said the Mormon "jesus" "Needs salvation...Came to earth to work out His own salvation
* McConkie, "The Seven Deadly Heresies,' in Speeches of the Year, 1980 [Provo: Brigham Young University Press, 1981] p. 78 where he said: "There was only one perfect being, the Lord Jesus. If men had to be perfect and live all of the law strictly, wholly, and completely, there would be only one saved person in eternity." [cited in Come, Follow Me: Melchizedek Priesthood Personal Study Guide 1983 (1983) p. 72]

In all fairness, though I have made my positionr regarding Romney and this election clear, and why [HERE], most of what Jim was referring to that you are refuting were things Jim attributes to Mitt Romney, not Paul Ryan. ROmney did try and take a stance stronger on Gay Rights than Kennedy many years ago when he tried to run against him. Romney has indicated in his past that he is against assault weapons, etc.

Although in the past Romney has these worng positions, he indicates he has changed and now for the last 6+ years has been advocating conservative positions. People are using his past to judge him now. But his [POSTIONS NOW] make it clear what he is running on in 2012...as it did in 2008 when Jim supported him against McCain.

I would love to have a chance for Romney to show these changes are in fact solid and real by serving in the Senate or somewhere else for a few years...but now we do not have that luxury. He has picked Ryan, which is a much more conservative pick than many here felt he would make. And he is running against an abject Marxist who, with a will, and openly, is going about fundamentally changing our Republic and destroying it.

We do not have the luxury of years...we need to remove Obama now...and sad as it is, it will either be Obama or Romney for President. We need Romney in there with a majority House and Senate so he can enact what he has promised. If he does, the nation will turn around and Romney will be remembered in history as a huge turning point for the good of the Republic.

If we do not, Obama will drive us headlong into the ground.

There will be some people who stand on their principles and will not vote the R ticket. Fortunately, those will be very few and the great majority will recognize the necessity of playing the hand that has been dealt.

I will be voting against Obama, Biden, Holder, Sebelius, Napalitano and all the other merry band of thugs and traitors.

That entails voting FOR Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. While I wish Ryan was at the top of the ticket and Romney wasn’t even on it, wishing doesn’t make it so.

I refuse to aid and abet Barack Hussein Obama and the democrap party in any way, shape or form in November.

I guess the former, Tea-Party, queen is not a RINO.

No one's doing what you accuse

Bullshiite. It's a regular meme on this site by many that refusing to support a homo loving, gun grabbing social liberal is a vote for a homo loving, gun grabbing socialist. The difference is barely discernible and laughable.

I agree about Mormonism, however, that will be determined when they stand before God. In the meantime, I do not see them as ANY threat to the USA whereas I see Athiest/Islamists as a deadly threat. I would vote for my cat over Zero, and I will campaign for Romney-Ryan.

Dittos to that, linton59. Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz agree, by the way...

Psssttt, yes, a few, and very few, here are just fine with 4 more years. I wonder how many are concern trolls or voted for the Kenyan in 2008.

I wonder if they have a lot of "walking around" money. That's certainly a technique that has been used in past elections. This time they are walking around the internet. Bonuses may be attained by turning in names to The Won's Cybernet Security Force.
