Induced Abortion:
The Number One Cause of Death In The United States

As hard as it may be to believe, abortion is the number one cause of death in the United States.

The following figures for causes of death were taken from Table 250A, "Deaths from 72 selected causes, 1993" published by the Division of Vital Statistics, National Center for Health Statistics. The URL of the document is http://www.cdc.gov/nchswww/tab250a.htm. 1993 is the last year for which full statistics are available.

Of course, our government doesn't consider abortion to be "death", so the abortion figure is taken from page 1 of "Abortion Surveillance -- United States, 1992" Vol. 45, No. SS-3, published by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on May 3, 1996 (it takes several years for them to collect and report the statistics).

The AIDS death statistics are for the year 1995; they were obtained from Table 9 in "HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report, Vol. 8, No. 1, June 1996", published by the CDC.

The abortion death figure does not include deaths of the mothers as a result of abortions, it is just the deaths of the babies. The abortion death count also does not count illegal or unreported abortions, nor does it include multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets, etc.) deaths, or deaths in mothers that may occur years later due to an increased risk of breast cancer.

Cause of death Number of deaths

------------------------------- ----------------

Induced abortions 1,359,145
Cardiovascular disease 948,088
Cancer (all types) 529,904
Pulmonary disease (emphysema, etc.) 101,077
Pneumonia and influenza 82,820
Infectious diseases (not AIDS) 70,143
Diabetes 53,894
Accidents other than motor vehicle 48,630
AIDS 43,652
Motor vehicle accidents 41,893
Suicide 31,102
Homicide 26,009
Liver disease 25,209
Kidney disease 23,317

Here are some comparisons to put these statistics in perspective:

About every two weeks (14.7 days) there are as many deaths due to induced abortions as there were in the entire Vietnam war (55,000).

If induced abortions were reduced by 50% the savings of lives would be greater than finding a cure for all cancer.

We spend millions of dollars installing air bags in cars to save a few thousand lives, but the total deaths due to automobile accidents amount to only 3% of the deaths due to induced abortions.

As startling as these statistics are, they are underestimates of the actual deaths due to induced abortions. The CDC's "Abortion Surveillance -- United States, 1992" document contains the following statement on pages 34-35: "The numbers, ratios, and rates of abortion from this analysis are conservative estimates because the number of legal abortions reported to CDC for 1992 was probably lower than the number actually performed.

Totals provided by central health agencies are often lower than those obtained by direct surveys of abortion providers. For example, the total number of abortions reported to CDC for 1992 was approximately 11% lower than that reported to The Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI), a private organization that directly contacts abortion providers to obtain information on the number of abortions performed."

If the reported number is 11% too low, then the actual number of induced abortions would be 1,508,651 which exceeds the total deaths due to heart disease, strokes, and cancer combined.

According to "Abortion Surveillance -- United States, 1992, Table 6A" 49% of the induced abortions were performed after 8 weeks of gestation, 25% after 10 weeks; approximately 20,000 babies were aborted after 21 weeks (about 5 months) of gestation.

If you haven't already done so, please add your signature
to the petition for the unborn (and ask others to do likewise)
These little ones need our voice to speak out for them.
God Bless you!

"...We are eating our own and we DO NOT CARE!..."

That's neither fair nor true.

Many care, and they express their caring (and their outrage) in many different ways.

Some meekly pray for an end to abortion...

Some take up arms against abortionists and splatter their brains across their kitchen counters...

When you use the term 'We' the way you do you invoke a collective guilt for all, without regard to whether they are guilty.

Your 'We' doesn't apply to me, or to anyone I know.

It is dangerous to be a baby in America today. As the "normalization "of abortion has grown ,so has child abuse..think there may be a connection?

That's neither fair nor true.

It may not be fair(no one worries about fairness until their man gets bit though) but is is true.

We are eating our own.

JUST WHY do you think we are having to import labor like there is no tommorrow?

Because we have Murdered 20-30-40 Million of our own citizens in the womb. No connection between the two?? BS!

There are some very hard truths many need to learn and I am willing to take much flak to point this out.

I care and am willing to talk about it and scream to high heaven. How about you? Many people say they care but just can't stand to talk about it. Head in the sand soothes the shame and guilt. But God sees the crime.

But don't worry, we can always take it out on libertarians and druggies. Used to hit blacks and homos but now they got power. Can't touch that. Might loose too many votes and after this last election.

Taking Flak and Loving It,

The support of NOW for mass child murderer Andrea Yates proves to me that they are no longer satisfied with late-term abortions. Now they are pushing for the right to kill children of any age.

The following is an exercise in the futility of trying to communicate with those omnipotent feminists whose elevators don't go all the way to the top, but here goes anyhow:

Imagine your beloved child as a young adult. See the happiness beaming on the face of your son or daughter walking down the isle to be married. What a glorious day!

Now go back in time a few years. See yourself glowing with pride as you watch your child's school basketball game or band concert.

Go back a few years and see yourself giving comfort and encouragement to your child on the first day of kindergarten.

Think back a few more years and feel your child kicking inside you for the first time. What if the next day you had gone to an abortion clinic? Think of all the wonderful moments that would have been lost if your child's life had been destroyed.

Most pregnancies are probably unplanned and inconvenient, at least for the short-term. But there are always solutions and ways to cope. And in all the years that follow, whenever you hear your child say, " I love you, Mom - thanks for raising me" - or "I love you, Mom - thanks for finding me a good home" you will know that any sacrifices you made were worth it. And nothing is worth the pain of wondering what might have been.

Induced abortion: the number one cause of death in the United States

Not surprising at all, since the average "family planning clinic" has less regulation imposed on it than the average beauty parlor...
