Howdy, howdy. Is there any other place in the union which is as cold as Wyoming this morning? IS 80 is closed and winter storm warnings in effect for most of the state.

We lost at the Alamo, but six weeks later Sam Houston's army took the Mexican Army apart at San Jacinto.

I grew up on Fess Parker as Davey Crockett. Even had the coonskin cap.

TexIANS? Is that correct?
Yes...I am fairly certain.

Thanks for the reply. I have a feeling that this will always be a subject for debate. For myself, until they can prove it beyond a doubt, Crockett went down fighting.

We're not cold but they're predicting rain for the next 4 days.

Read Three Roads to the Alamo by William C Davis. A biography of three of the Alamo's best known defenders and a fantastic account of the seige itself.

I've heard that term and Texicans used for that time period to describe residents of Texas.

And they let Santa Anna go so we had to deal with him again later.

That was the opinion of some of the people on the program. I think they did a good job of presenting different opinions. They also said that, like so much history, you never know for sure. You just collect evidence that suggests something is true or not. It's never conclusive. Interesting stuff.

The History Channel has some great programs and I enjoy Histories Mysteries. I'll have to keep an eye out for the rerun.

Any age that does not exalt courage will be confounded by the Alamo, and baffled by the men who stayed in it. Any age that fears war more than servitude, or death more than honor, must denigrate the Alamo. Ages that do not honor the concept of liberty or death will fight no Alamos. Ages that do not cling to the great values of love, honor, courage, sacrifice, the soldier values, will not only fail to remember the Alamo, they may not long endure. T. R. Fehrenbach, Texas historian.

Ah, OK. Thanks. I'm out more than I am in today, so I was lost. Plus, I am listening to C-SPAN's coverage of the upcoming Estrada cloture vote and getting more and more ticked off at damn lying Dems.
