This is my Mom on the left at the first display of a statue of the Iwo Flag Raising in late 1945 or 46. We believe it is near 8th and I street in DC, she cannot remember. This statue has been removed since, and I would like to know if anyone has ever seen it while in the Corps!

Speaking of moms, here's mine. This is the woman my dad left behind when he went off to Great Lakes, Camp Pendleton, Camp Maui and finally Iwo. (After he left California, I think, Mom was not allowed know where he was):

This was taken by PsyOp, at the 40th Anniversary, held in San Francisco Ca.

Mr. Rosenthatl was in attendance and gave each of the above Devil Dogs a signed 8 x 10 of the original photo, taken from his original negative.

All of the uniforms were lent to us from Pappy Boyington.

I have seen it, although I was not in the Corps! It is now at Arlington National Cemetery. It is one of the most beautiful statue's I have ever seen. I think that it is made of brass. After looking carefully you realize that there are six Marines, rather then the five you see at first glance.

If I remember correctly, More than one portable statue was made to tour the country. I saw one of these on the aircraft carrier now stationed in New York.
